Maybe not for the Bills.

Andy Reid couldn't win the big one either in Philly ,yet Philly had teams loaded with talent.

Once Mcdermott  adapts and tries other defensive schemes he will be a complete coach. Overall he is a good coach.

He lost 4 NFC title games and narrowly a SB loss. He made the postseason multiple times with old Vick and Alex Smith.

Reid was very close. And was a great HC before Mahomes.

The script for this year is already unfolding.

The Chiefs will win tonight giving them a strong shot at the 1-seed with a season resurgence.

The Bills will miss the 1-seed by a tie-breaker.

After a couple more stumbles, the Bills will finish the season strong and take the division.

......Then get bounced in the division round or AFCC game with another weird label to go with all the rest.

NEVER gonna happen. Josh Allen is a Ferrari with a Kia Mechanic as head coach.

I would include Beane in this conversation and the answer is no.

both living off one good draft  pick (Allen).

facts, both would be selling Allstate in Iowa if not for 17.

If everyone’s answer is no or an almost definitely no without lunacy the wtf are we doing here? The only thing that matters is the answer to this question. If we don’t think we can win with this guy, then it’s time to make a change.

I think the Chiefs will have to fight for the division this year. The Broncos and Chargers (despite yesterday's loss) will give them competition this year which is something the Chiefs haven't had to deal with in past seasons.

Josh Allen is good enough to overcome McDermott and win it all, but it’s a very narrow path. His teammates believe in him 100% and that’s invaluable. I don’t think they have the same belief in McD and the coaches. So it’s possible, but unlikely.

Disagree.

Allen has been great in many games where McD's Defense ultimately cost them the game.

What else could Allen possibly do in the postseason?

The only thing that matters is when does Terry Pegula feel it's time to make a change since his opinion is the only one that counts.

Josh Allen is the MVP of the entire league and has been playing at that level for 4 years.

A better question might be: What does Sean bring to the table that would make you think any half-decent coach couldn’t do at least as well?

Is it his stellar D? Nope.

In-game decision making? Nope.

Commitment to getting a generational QB talent top weapons? Nope.

This fanbase needs to get over its Sean loyalty for ending the draught. That was 8 years ago.

(Hopefully this doesn’t get merged with all the other McDermott threads)

This is as straight forward as it gets. Using all the information we have. Do you think the Bills will ever win a Super Bowl with this guy as our head coach? Doesn’t mean this year. Just ever? Yes or No?

should have done a poll on a thread like this

They are 4-1.   2-1 in the division.  They were not going undefeated.  They were splitting with a division rival.  Defenses wasn't that bad with 2 practice squad DTs and the offense was unusually sloppy. Why the negativity?

This isnt an appropriate post for this thread. Nothing about this thread is specific to last night, or our current record. That is just one tiny piece in a much bigger puzzle.

I have felt this way since the KC loss. What has changed? Defense still sucks despite very resource we have being pumped into it, the coach routinely gets out coached by anyone half decent, and if Josh is not playing at a high level or mistakes happen whether it be his or the teams they lose. Again were wasting the prime of the best QB we have had and our best chance to get a ring since the 90s. It is fascinating to me the amount of people that still defend McD when it has been nearly a decade of him as coach and his defense has only gotten worse despite having the luxury of an all world QB. Beane doesn't escape criticism either but you can't fire a GM mid season.

yeah, i think that is the concern... there are two factions... we are 4-1 stop complaining we will be fine... and I want to win it all and what I am seeing is more of the same we have seen the past several years... in fact the defense has likely regressed... how are you going to win it all like that... I get both sides... but I am more in your camp which is the... we needed badly to improve on the defensive side of the ball...we have not... we have elected to go WR by C+/B- committee and the cracks are starting to show... eliminate the down field threat and the short stuff is much harder... as is the running game...  we have a serviceable core.... but they do not strike fear into the hearts of anyone....  Tearing it down is not what I think we should do... (from a guy who was upset with Polian and waited 25 years to get a competent GM in here....) our best hope is that Beane finally recognizes his short comings and makes FO changes and the McD hires a strong and Competent Dco and lets them do their thing... just my opinion...

I would LOVE it if it happened, but do I think it will happen?...

No.

Sadly I couldn’t figure out how to add the pole lol I was going to

No one on this board can change the Bills organization, HC etc. If by make a change you mean finding another team to follow then yes. Anyone can do that. It does seem odd to follow a team passionately with no belief that they can win. Perhaps it’s the definition of insanity ?

PSL's are nearly sold out at the new stadium. And the Bills are competitive.

Business wise things have never looked better. So...it won't be anytime soon Pegula gives him the boot.

The other thing is that the Sabres are a mess because they recycle HC's like crazy. That could stop Pegula from firing McD. The fear of getting worse.

You are probably right in that McDermott and Beane aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Sadly, I am starting to think Allen will be joining Marino and Ewing as great players who organizations didn't give them enough help to win a championship.
