This is now a poll. I went with names I had seen here. I added Babich as he's part of the current regime. If there's another name I should add, let me know and I'll edit the poll.

They are different teams. There is no comparison. This D  is weak against the run, weak against the pass and terrible on 3rd down. With that many problems you don’t go far.

i was replying to this '...there aren’t many runs where a team doesn’t have to score 27-30 points one or more times anymore...' when there was just one two yrs ago

Defense is the most important thing in every sport. It’s the only way to sustainably win big games. If you can’t make stops, you are asking your offense to be perfect every drive every week. That’s why we still have no rings. The defense is the problem. The defense getting fixed is how we win a Super Bowl. Unfortunately step 1 of fixing it is removing our own HC from the room

they are not going to get rid of McDermott

so actually it's the opposite. they need to stop investing so much capital on defense and go all in w Allen and offense

like ive been saying for the last 5yrs

How about Mike McCarthy ?

I’m not quite in the fire mcd camp but teetering haha   There’s no good HC candidates this offseason unfortunately.  I think they gotta give him one more year and make 2026 Super Bowl or bust and hope someone else emerges tbh.  All the guys that have gotten hype have completely fallen off so far.  Maybe they could fire him midseason in 2026 if things don’t look great and have Brady take over for a time

honestly maybe I’d give spags another shot if he wants to leave kc but it seems like people only want offense now and idk if he’d even leave

They need to invest in a DC. Just tell McDermott go be the head coach. You no longer control the defense or really even touch it. Just like Brady with the offense. Worry about getting guys ready and learning how a time out works 10 years later. Hire Wade Phillips to be DC and tell McDermott to stay tf out of the room

Just listened to McD Monday presser. Most weeks I swear I think it’s a replay of one from any previous year picked at random.  It’s like a politician's jargon that sounds good but is nothing of substance.  I tune back in to them always hoping for something that makes me do a double take and not this feeling of presser rerun.

ps yes I know he’s a good guy and culture changer etc.  this is not a personal knock just my own take of his pressers.

Go Bills!

Josh is now the Elder Statesman of the Bills. All of his receivers are 5+ years younger. They all look to him for guidance. I think the urgency was there. They just couldn’t get into any offensive flow because of the lack of running game and constant flags. This was as sloppy as a game I’ve ever seen. That was the only way the Pats were going to win. Even a Bills offense performing at 80% would’ve smoked New England.

Should have smoked the Bills . I was hoping that they would have used Ty Johnson a bit more if Cook isn't doing much then use Ty and possibly a 2 back set and put one in motion or something . Brady doesn't think to do things like that as much as.

Or bring in a FB in a traditional 2 back set but once again Brady doesn't seem to want to change to those types of plays , it's not like the talent isn't there he has many weapons at his disposal ! He only utilized Knox I think twice, even after the drop I feel he should have or could have used him as a target if you go the ammo use it .

I saw towards the end of the game on multiple plays WR's wide open way down the field and they don't seem to want to use that to open things up either and josh has one of if not the biggest arm in the NFL but it's all about the short game how about use=ing some of that speed you acquired if for nothing else to loosen it up for the running game .

If Josh was as you say is the elder statesman then he or Bosa, or Tre somebody get these guys fired up, most of the shots of Josh he was sitting on the bench just biding his time to get back in the game while Diggs as I said was all up & down the side line pumping these guys up that's what a leader does and especially in a game like that where you are down they need to pump up the volume to get the adrenaline flowing ...

For some reason after that first fumble (To Me) that set the entire tone for that game & the Bills weren't them selves after that it looked good up until that point ...

Go Bills!

Get 1% better every day. wtf did our defense start at? Negative 350%. How about just get good at coaching the 1 thing you are responsible for. You see how dominant, physical and tone setting our offense is? That’s what our DEFENSE is supposed to be doing. Stop getting on skates and hoping the other team gets bored and throws you a bad pass. Go get them. You set the tone. You make THEM back up. That’s the whole point

I agree and this may be the only practical solution to the McD dilemma.  We all know he's not getting fired and the reality is that firing McD MIGHT get the Bills over the hump or send them spiraling back down into the abyss.  The risk is to great IMO and as you point out there are solutions to be had that don't involve taking the very real risk of moving on from McD.

LOL OMG people voted for McCarthy? He had 1 SB win in 13 years with Rodgers... was / is (even with Cowboys) the WORST in game coach I've ever seen. He was good simply because of Rodgers. He is abysmal. He is literally the offensive version of McDermott

Firing McDermott could send the Bills spiraling back down into the abyss? .... with the league's MVP at QB?

The drought really broke some of you.

There is ZERO chance Sean admits he's failed as the team's defensive mind and brings in someone new.

I don't hate him, but I'm tired.

I'll go w/ "anyone available."  I think we're at that point in franchise's trajectory where we just need a change.

He's a defensive coach, and our defense is our weak unit.

Problem is. McD thinks he’s a D genius with an D that has let us down 5 yrs+ and he knows little about O where OC leaves fast.
what’s that leave us with? It’s a horrible situation for getting any kind of meaningful change.

I voted for Brady because I think that’s the most reasonable. Trading for McVay or Shanahan just doesn’t seem possible. They’re obviously great.

I’d probably try to keep the offense together (with better receivers of course) and hope that he has a better idea for the defense. I’d try to hire Matt Patricia as the DC. He’s making $2.5M at OSU so maybe it’s not realistic but the Raiders hired Chip Kelly away for $6M a year.
