Knox is really close with Josh, I think people underestimate this when thinking Knox is gone next year. Yes the Bills won't be able to keep Knox at a 17 million dollar cap number and his dead cap charge is only 7 million. But given the relationship I think as long as Knox is willing to be reasonable with his deal he will be back for one more year. I think they probably could knock his cap number down to the 10ish million range and basically bring him back for one more year at around 3 million because they would already be sinking in 7 million on the dead cap charge. Just seems like if this 3 TE rotation is working and one of the guys is Josh's friend and a pretty good player but overpaid they could probably work out the overpaid part. 2 4 Quote

If they had to get rid of one of Knox or Kincaid, it would definitely be Knox at this point. Him getting more snaps that Kincaid, is really down to Kincaid disappointing rather than Knox commanding reps. the 3 of them are complimentary TEs' imho. Especially if Brady uses them to their strengths. And they all have a few Let us not consider having to get rid of any of them this Season please. Love to see all three help the Bills win the regular/playoff/and SB together. Next offseason we can talk again. Everything could change our opinions by then lol 3 Quote

I get the sense that Brady loves having 3 versatile TEs (plus Gilliam), and I think we’ll start seeing some real creativity with these guys as the season goes on. I think it gives us a lot of ways to really effectively attack a defense. There is the thing Rubes !😉 Brady being the key here. Pretty stoked about this Kids last year (yes I was ) and what we have seen this year so far. Creativity and matchups win games ! So far so good Those four options are pretty darn strong as a whole room. 1 Quote
Ralonzo Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I was thinking during the first couple games, attitudinally, who does Hawes remind me of and I'd have to say Incognito. Violent through the whistle and maybe a little beyond, then he's just walking back to the huddle. On the occasion the opponent takes exception and comes back at him, Hawes is ignoring him like just another buzzing fly. 2 1 Quote

Last year the Bills ran the 6th O-line player and it was confusing to teams because teams don't do that often. This year they added a quality blocking TE who can flex around as a FB too. Having 2 TE's in Hawes and Knox that can block well as well as Kincaid who is a respectable blocker and it is a tremendous amount of versatility. I would say Dawson has to catch the ball or he may find himself losing some playing time to this kid. 1 Quote
Nephilim17 Posted September 18 Posted September 18 (edited) I like Knox a lot but his contract is nuts for his usage/production. Next year he has a $17 million cap hit with 7.4 million dead hit. I think he does a team-friendly extension/re-structure of his contract or is cut next year. You just can't pay a guy that much for 300 to maybe 500 yards tops in a 17-game season. Agreed but I think the Bills are interesting in running 3 TE sets and using Hawes as a fullback here or there. So there's plenty of versatility these guys offer. 1 Quote

Hard to say if he's going to be a lifer because teams needs change so rapidly but I think there's a good chance he's here in 2026 and likely 2027. Beyond that at age 32 the team probably will want to get younger at the position. But this 3 TE thing each one brings their own strengths to the table. Kincaid decent blocker but by far the best receiver of the bunch. Knox very good blocker solid receiver (drops a little too much but is able to run a lot of routes and can catch). Hawes and elite blocker and showing that he's not a bad receiver at all. Each has a different skillset but each can block to some degree and each can catch to some degree. 1 Quote
nuklz2594 Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Josh will make sure knox stays a bill. At same time, think josh will have some influence on Knox doing contract restructure. 1 Quote

Hawes has the potential to be an elite blocker, but IMO, he can only make Knox disposable by demonstrating he's a consistent pass-catching threat. He only needs to be Knox level consistent Quote

I have no idea, but neither do all the fans constantly calling for Knox to be cut - who happens to be a valuable Buffalo Bill. I'm loving the Hawes development. Let's not spoil it by beating one of the fans' favorite whipping boys. 1 Quote
White Linen Posted September 18 Posted September 18 I'm pleasantly surprised. I did not see him having the athleticism to get on the field, at least this year. I stand corrected. 1 Quote
blacklabel Posted September 18 Posted September 18 We learned at draft time how this dude was the best blocking TE on the board and how he would fit in as a sixth OL for the offense. At that time tho, there were a handful of prospect analysts making a point to mention that while you didn't see it a lot, he had some skill and value as a receiver. Then during camp we heard time and again how, "This Hawes kid is more than just a blocker!" And how it seemed like as camp went on there seemed to be some new plays and wrinkles in the offense that were designed to get Hawes more involved. Seems like the team and coaches/FO really like the guy and wanna develop him. Hawes also appears to have the right makeup to really succeed and turn into a solid player. 1 1 Quote

Can't hurt to have that depth as long as it isn't costing the Bills opportunities to sign other playmakers who are going to make a more consistent impact on their side of the ball than Knox does. 1 Quote

Hopefully he can develop into more of a pass catcher. At this point how could you not be disappointed in Kincaid as well. He’s only really produced consistently his first season when Knox was injured. Knox’s best stint in a while was when Kincaid was injured last year. Seems like we’re paying two guys and getting one player’s production. I’m disappointed in both. Right now the Knox contract and the high pick on Kincaid just makes no ***** sense to me. The Kincaid is Beasley but in TE body Beane fed us was bull####, just another wasted pick early in the draft Edited September 18 by BananaB Quote
