Gregg Posted August 29 Posted August 29 One of the biggest season opening day games in quite a while as #1 takes on #3. Let the Arch Manning hype begin. Why is this game on at 12:00 EST. This should have been a primetime game on Saturday night. 1 Quote

Fox has invested millions into their Big Noon Kickoff brand. They go on site and use all their main tv personalities for the pregame and the game. Noon is the most watched CFB window over the past 4-5 years. They are not moving off that time slot for their big game each week. They also realize that in primetime, you have to compete with the big top 25 matchups on ABC, ESPN, NBC and they want the Big Noon Kickoff all to themselves. Doesn't mean they will have the only important noon game, but it will usually be a relevant B10 game or rivalry game. So that's your answer from what i recall. 2 1 1 Quote

Also, traditionally a good majority of the Big 10 teams like having their games at noon instead of at night. There will be some games at night, but most of them get their games over with first thing. Fox gets to pick the Big 10 game they want at noon and it’s usually us for ratings unless we play a MAC team. For example our only home night game in the reg season is vs the OU bobcats bc Fox didn’t claim it. Criminal and bad for recruiting. It’s hard for kids to get to Saturday noon games after they play Friday night across the country. Plus the atmosphere of night games is unmatched. Sigh 1 Quote

Sigh Correct, but teams like tOSU aren't really hurt regarding recruiting because of a Noon game. tOSU, Alabama, Notre Dame, etc. are going to be ok even if they played on a Tuesday at 10am. Those early kickoff games would most likely hurt the mid-tier teams like Mich St., Kansas, Nebraska, Arizona etc. IMHO. Quote

The last weekend before Labor Day and a huge game every college football wants to watch is on at noon. 1 1 Quote
Bills!Win! Posted August 30 Posted August 30 What are the other top matchups of the day/must see games? Quote
BillsShredder83 Posted August 30 Posted August 30 #8 Bama vs FL St. 3pm #9 LSU v #4 Clemson tonight. Tomorrow night could be a fun one in a bounce back hopeful TCU vs UNC (Beli's first game) Quote
NewEra Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Arvel Reese is fun to watch. Would love to snag him on day 3 and work on his coverage Quote
gonzo1105 Posted August 30 Posted August 30 I've been a big fan of Michael Taaffe from Texas. A kid that kind of stood out to me when I was watching Jahdae Barron last year in the secondary. He's right up the Bills alley as a day 2 two pick but he might give Bills fans bad vibes taking another white safety in the 2nd or 3rd round after taking Bishop last year. Quote
rusty shackleford Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Manning is not as advertised and neither is this game. Very boring. 1 Quote
Roundybout Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Awful. Stared the receiver down the whole way and chucked it into double coverage Quote
NORWOODS FOOT Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Odd, but he’s mainly been a running QB so far. Kind of surprising considering the hype. Quote
zow2 Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Arch has a long way to go to be the #1 overall pick they've been touting recently. But it's a tough opponent, nice TD pass late. I can't believe the lengthy replay review on the TD catch by Texas. It seemed like an obvious catch to me. Sure the ball switched hands a bit on the roll over but i didn't see it touch ground. 1 Quote
