One that should have been on there that isn’t was a 108 yarder by Tony Greene that was called back vs. the Phins back in the mid 70s. What made it especially egregious was that the flag was thrown after the return was completed. Shula feasted on home cooking that day. Just as he did on many days back then.

Tony Greene visited my Elementary School Gardenville West Seneca.  Cool experience

Taron times 2! Had no idea about the other 101 yard INT return! Pretty sure I was at the Steve Freeman one but I was only 8 at the time and dont remember much of the game itself.

Ethan, that’s quite surprising as you seem to be a knowledgeable poster from what I’ve seen… That one by Taron sealed the deal in a huge playoff game that the Bills were in the cusp of completely falling flat in. Baltimore clawed the momentum and punching it in for 6 might have been the undoing of the night.

On top of that, it’s very recent.

Tom Janik says hold my beer. Had a 100 yard return against eventual SBIII champion Joe Namath in ‘68. Our only win of the season.

at the Rockpile -which isn’t Rich Stadium but still a home game. Byrd & Edgerson also had Pick 6’s in that game!

Another big play during the drought was the 79 opener. Charlie Romes returned a blocked FG 75 yards for the Bills only score that day in a 9-7 loss. If I remember correctly the Bills missed a FG late in the 4th quarter that would have ended the streak.

Sounds about right.. also.. a bit off topic..  But had Romes held on onto a potential pick 6 against the Chargers in 81 , we win and probably beat the Raiders at home the following week and advance to the Super Bowl..

I remember this one, I can't find a video of it though.   There were many other unfortunate flags thrown on the Bills in that 20 game losing streak.  Sure seemed like something bad was going on there.

I used to see Tony Greene and Bobby Chandler hanging out in town.  They ate a local restaurant that I worked at.   Both of them were excellent players, soft spoken, and class acts all the way.

I cant believe both years I was more worried about the Baltimore match up than the Chiefs.

This year the Bills have to worry about both. With KC it's probably a mental problem at this point with not being able to beat them in the playoffs. The Ravens IMHO have a better roster. If the Bills and Ravens meet the playoffs then the game better be played in OP. I wouldn't like the Bills, chances at all if it were played in Baltimore.

Idk. I feel like the Bills match up better vs the Chiefs.  Also, Baltimore there is no surprise in what they are.  Zone read Henry and Lamar. Get the defense to come up and play-action over the middle.

Yep. Dempsey missed an easy FG for the win as time expired. Guy sitting behind us said if he misses this I’m gonna run out there and kick his a$$. We were only about 10 rows up so he didn’t have a long way to go and he ran down the aisle and jumped onto the field. Last I saw was a half dozen security guards in hot pursuit.

I like the Jones 85 yarder against Simms the best. 4 guys immediately realized, turned up field and sprinted the sideline. Jones had a blocking party with him.

Taron Johnson’s pick 6 was such a game changer for the entire franchise. Even after beating an aging Rivers I doubt most people were sold on the Bills and Allen completely. That play and subsequent victory really put Buffalo on the map as the next real contenders in the AFC.
