Namely for 2 reasons: We’ve started slowly every year this decade, except for the Rams game, and This D smells so much like a late January Bills D…3 Dlinemen down, we don’t know who one of the starting CBs is, and our safeties are playing together against live ammo for the first time in awhile. I hope I am wrong. Go Bills! I fart in your general direction Sir ! This is going to be an outfkgstanding Game . Best Game of the Year . get yur Mind right Man 🤠 1 Quote
3rdand12 Posted September 2 Posted September 2 1 hour ago, newcam2012 said: The best Bills path of victory is to create turnovers on defense and longer ball control scores on offense. Of course, that's a bit simplified but those are two key components to a victory. The Bills path to a win is dramatically reduced if the Ravens play a clean game. This isn't an ideal matchup for the Bills. Don't discount this Offense , and ball control. Bills can do that quiet well. Josh improved so danged well last year with turnovers sugar high O line is Beast under Kromer Calling it now though. Bills LBs will have adjusted and show up for the run. Via scheme tweaks from last years chunk plays on 3rd etc 27 minutes ago, Dunkirk Donski said: Things are gettin serious boys. Im considering lacing up for this one. Overdue Don ! 2 Quote
RunTheBall Posted September 3 Posted September 3 (edited) I see BBFS is in full swing 5 days before the opener. What else is new? The first game of the season is a crap shoot and in no way indicative of what the team will be at the end of the season. Win or lose, if we meet again in the playoffs this game will have zero impact on that result. Both teams will be very different. We didn’t win the divisional because of luck. We won because we were the better team that night. Henry only ran for 84 yards and Lamar was playoff Lamar. He didn’t just turn into a sucky QB, McD’s defense rattled him a bit and he made mistakes. We’ve improved on the D-line, Milano is looking like All Pro Milano (if he doesn’t bruise his vagine) Benford is ascending into an elite corner, Bernard is actually healthy. White for Douglas is a wash. Rapp is back, I think Bishop is an upgrade over Hamlin but we won’t see the fruit of that until 6 games are played. Stop worrying about Ravens fans. They are so vocal because they know Lamar is propped up by everyone around him and there’s nothing wrong with that. Josh by far elevates those around him better than Lamar. Will that be enough? Who knows. We will find out Sunday. Go Bills! Edited September 3 by RunTheBall 2 Quote

No Likely would be big as well to cancel out us without Hairston and Hoecht. Fwiw.. there’s a lot of dooming on here and I’d like to point out that we have year 2 Keon, year 3 Kincaid and upgraded with Palmer while adding two very talented DT prospects and Joey Bosa. Yall can be worried all you want, but there’s no reason our Offense shouldn’t be better than the already elite one we had last year, while our dumpster fire defense of a year ago comes into the year with an actual pass rusher opposite Rousseau with two high ceiling DT’s rotating in, two healthy talented linebackers to go with a Top 10 slot, Top 12 corner and Safety who is above average in our system. I’m not going to doom over this game because of CB2 and Bishop. Figure it out, we’re at home and it’s the last home opener at the stadium. This preseason of playing all backups has half the fanbase on tilt. (not all this is directed at you.. just in general) All of this, and McDermott is a better coach and has Lamar’s #. And it’s Brady’s 2ND full year as offensive coordinator And last year was supposed to be our down year and many had us not even winning the AFCE!! We’re gonna crush Bmore!! 2 Quote

Actually Nadal has been cursed with a rare foot disorder called Mueller-Weiss Syndrome since he was a teenager. It's chronic, painful and incurable. It makes the career he managed to put together even that much more impressive, imo. 7 Quote

Top 5 or better is very realistic. The defense is another debate. The young DTs are truly wild cards and playing the Ravens in their early career isn't ideal. It's a pretty big ask even for the most optimistic. The Ravens online in the running game are monsters. Henry is a horse coming at you. Let's face it, this is a very bad match up for the light in the ass Bills defense. They will have to load the box and hope Lamar plays poorly. This fan isn't going to gloss over glaring concerns at safety and CB2. It's a legitimate concern going into this game. Obviously, the Bills brass hasn't figured it out. Who think Tre White is a solid CB2? Bishop has shown very little. Rapp is seemingly always hurt. The Bills back end D certainly seems like a work in progress. Not the ideal situation when you are going up against an elite team called the Ravens. Hell yeah I'm concerned. Hopefully, it all gets figured out come playoff time. appoo Posted September 3 Posted September 3 We got the good on offense to keep up, but clearly the Ravens back 7=8 is better than Buffalo's, and the Ravens run game is going to give this DLine an insane test right out of the gates. Not sure how that's gonna go. Keon needs to win his routes to keep the Ravens D honest. Bills Front 7 has to be able to contain run enough to keep the Bills secondary from creeping. 9 minutes ago, newcam2012 said: Good optimism here. It certainly has merit. Ravens WRs aren't all that fearsome per se. Bateman and Flowers are good not great weapons. TEs are again good but no longer elite. This really comes down to the run game and how hot Lamar Jackson gets 1 Quote

That said, we can debate Bosa‘s health this season and how to handle him, but he’s healthy right now and I’m excited to see what Bosa-Jones-Oliver-Rousseau looks like. Bosa and Rousseau are elite run defenders and in pass rush situations can compress the pocket allowing our DT’s to penetrate. Add in healthy Milano & Bernard. Then Taron, Benford and Rapp. Epenesa as a rotational piece. Thats a strong group. As you point out.. the issue becomes what do we get out of CB2, Bishop and the rookie DL against Baltimore.. in Week 1 of all weeks. 1 1 Quote

The Bills have faced teams playing single safety near the very top of NFL. Why? Because they don't think the Bills have outside receivers great in beating them 1-on-1. Also it helps playing against run, which is Bills strength now (including Allen). We are going to see what Keon is. Ravens probably will move Humphey into nickel (taking out Shakir). Outside they have their 2024 #1 pick Nate Wiggins who is really good in 2024-- blazing fast (runs in 4.28), but smallish in size (183lb). So Keon should have well over 30lb on Nate. One on one, there is a game to be had between Allen and C oleman over Wiggins. Conversely the Bills played high number of single high safety against the Ravens last year. Why? Derrick Henry! I would expect the same so pass rush and CB plays will be big for the Bills. Now if Lamar is tearing it up against Bills single high, we do have some bigger bodies, albeit rookies to try at DT as a change of strategy. Edited September 3 by PoundingDog 2 Quote

A Bills loss isn't going to break the Bills season. They will be fine and I expect them to go on a nice little winning streak after this game. It's a pretty soft schedule on paper. However, it's the bigger picture with regards to the AFC playoff seeding. Maybe it's too early to focus on this? The winner of this game has a nice advantage of hosting a playoff game if they meet again. I think that's pretty big. Quote
