Obviously Hairston getting hurt messes everything up. But he wasnt even beating out White in camp. Safety and CB is an absolute disaster right now. It’s not alarmist when it is true. Bills are possibly going to start two guys in White and Hamlin that wouldnt even make most NFL rosters. 

He wasn’t beating out Tre…. lol.  He got injured day 6 of training camp.  The battle had barely begun and the vet was given the early nod due to knowing the system.

Did he really? Wow. I must have been looking at other players then. When I looked for him, he was at Nickel.

I guess they've been trying it out this preseason.  Didn't make much sense to me either.

I think he started outside with Dane and moved inside to nickel late on when the various guys they've signed came in (Alexander and Hollins Jr).  He gave up a couple passes early and one of the TD's he was falling on his face as the guy caught it and got his feet in.  I'm speaking to what I think I saw but this certainly isn't an all22 review or anything.  The first couple of games I was getting numbers mixed up on guys and confusing the hell out of things.  Hint the numbers under the roster link on ESPN do not match the numbers guys are wearing on the field.

If we can make the cap work for Asante Samuel Jr do it.  Love Tre but he's not the Tre we drafted,  and he's just cursed with injuries.   He'll be a constant concern.

I don't think Samuel is healthy which is why he's still unsigned. On top of that he wasn't the world's most willing tackler BEFORE he hurt his shoulder and neck.

Beane has to earn his money now acquiring a realistic corner to play opposite Benford for the first four games until Hairston can play and Tre recovers. Dane Jackson, Ingram, are not the answer to any questions and Strong is a raw rookie who is a work  in progress. There will be plenty of cuts in the next week and corner and safety is an area of weakness that will be exploited by teams for sure. The guys that have been victimized in the preseason will be on the field unless we can sign and incorporate some better options immediately into our system. Isn’t it sad that we made all these acquisitions for the D-line in the offseason and did nothing to fortify the secondary.

As Joe Marino points out, the Bills have no incentive to be transparent regarding White's injury - with the Ravens game two weeks away there is a competitive advantage to keeping info in-house.

That makes sense in a normal situation but you know the ravens can just tune into the Bills reality show currently airing on HBO.

 

also, the roster cuts will tell us exactly what white’s situation is.

 

if this were a normal week of the season sure they could just downplay it but they really can’t hide whatever it is at this moment.  The first injury report is not due until Monday of game week but we will know by then.

Well, yes, it is, but that's football. Almost every season with almost every team, there are injuries or other events that disrupt the lineup. It truly is "next man up" and keep going. Happens every season.

 

Also, we tend to think these things are bigger crises than they are. It's a team game, 11 guys on the field, and if one goes down, yes, the substitute isn't as good, but from a team perspective, life goes on. For one thing, the other team is having its own injury events, so matchup-wise, these things even out. More importantly, other than the QB, any particular guy just isn't that important. I've often told the story about hearing Colin Cowherd talking about JJ Watt. One year in his prime, best defensive player in the league, was injured and questionable for the upcoming game. Cowherd asked a Las Vegas odds maker what impact Watt's absence would have on the spread. The answer: One half point.  One half point for the defensive player of the year. 

 

Bills will survive this.
