So basically no update on Tre, injury looked pretty serious now it's maybe not as serious but who knows?

Now it feels like we can legit win the whole thing.  
 

So with the expectation of a Super Bowl win - not a division title - win the whole thing.  Here are our pre season “highlights.”

 

1. We resigned our own - that’s great but they’ve been here and our D was terribly mid last year - how is it better?

 

2. The 2 new Def line guys get suspended 

 

3. The 3 Rookie D line guys have played a majority of the snaps in 2 preseason games where we got shredded.  Nothing to get super excited about …… yet.   
 

4. Our first round pick has a significant injury where we may not see him till October

 

5. Our starting safety we are counting on can’t stay on the field.  The coach is essentially calling him out.  
 

6. The first “hold out” under Beane happened.  
 

7. We have looked God awful in the 2 preseason games - not counting the 1st quarter vs the Giants where Bosa and Milano looked great.  
 

8. Why was Gabe Davis here?

 

9. Tre White hurt.  
 

10. Competition from New England is legit. Their schedule is very easy and they look ready to take the next step.  I think Maye is the best QB of that rookie class.  Their rookie RB is lighting it up.  They will be tough.  The challenges from the Dolphins and Jets were based on a HOF QB add that fizzled out and then Tua got hurt.  This is different.

Seriously though, no update from the team? Our secondary might as well be called a tertiary.

It is odd that there's been nothing. It makes me wonder if they think it's potentially something long, but they want results from all tests to make absolutely sure it is or isn't before they say anything.

 

As at this point in his career, announcing that it's a long term injury would essentially be announcing his career is over.

One thing the bills do is, they never show their hand when it comes to injuries for some reason

Also gives away too much info in any potential trade scenario negotiations

Only "update", was Sal speaking to media about what he saw transpire (after injury).  Mitch helped a hobbling Tre to sideline.  Tre the  walked with assistant trainer to locker room, then back to field to get a cart out of stadium.

 

Sal made a key point about it not being the head trainer walking with Tre.  Not that it means everything, but usually you'd see Nate with a player if considered serious.

1. They resigned Benford, Bernard, Rousseau and Hamlin on defense, all team friendly deals. Renegotiated with Milano, because of injuries and age. Which of these moves are you questioning? Could you suggest some better options?

 

2. They knew this before they signed them. It’s a long season.

 

3. No scheme, no game plan. Preseason is practice.

 

4. Injuries are part of the game. Significant injury? And yet we will see him in October.

 

5. Safeties are a concern, we shall see.

 

6. A “hold out” really? Dallas and Cincinnati have hold outs.

 

7. Preseason is practice, and an opportunity for guys to catch on.

 

8. Gabe had his moments, for all we know they were being polite.

 

9. We still know nothing.

 

10. New England is legit? Based on an easy schedule, Drake Maye, a rookie RB? Today, after injury was leaked, Vrabel referred to his players and or staff as rats, what could go wrong?

I don't think there would be a CB trade. We're too close to the start of the Regular Season to plug and play someone in McDermott's complicated Secondary scheme. 

 

My guess if there were to be a move at CB bc Tre is out long term, it would be Rasul Douglas. He's a guy they could plug and play alongside Jackson, Strong, and Ingram. 

 

It wouldn't be what I'd do, as I think he's toast. But this regime has shown time and again that they prefer familiarity with McDermott's Defense over ability.

Of the potential CB2 replacements, I find myself growing most comfortable with Jamarcus Ingram starting - specifically for the ravens matchup week 1.

I think he has a little more size and tackling ability to hold up against those Derrick Henry sweep plays that always seem to get him in position to truck stick CB’s on the outside.

Ingram and Jackson to me were both likely cuts on my 53 at the start of camp. Now bc of the rash of injuries, it's not only practically a lock they'll both stick, one of them will potentially be starting Week 1.
