Things of note

If you are going today normally the last practice is only 1 hour.

Keep on point for your posts it is about training camp news not jimbo, or other off the field notes.

Go bills.

1st game is this Saturday.

Yes the 2 coaches did not get along the last time they met.

After watching Hard Knocks I see why they keep going to SJF for camp. Only 6 teams in the league including the Bills do an "off-site" training camp. I hope the Bills keep doing it. It seems like a smart bonding exercise and also keeps guys more focused.

Fetes did us dirty there. Capitalize WILL but not NOT.

I've been about 90% sure Shavers was making this team since early in the off season. Nothing I've seen or heard has swayed me from that. In fact it probably increased my view.

I don't know if Buffalo keeps 6 WRs, but with all the early injuries in camp to the position it wouldn't shock me. Maybe they go lighter in the secondary. I see Samuel or Moore as possible game day inactives (or in Samuels case an injury related inactive). Shavers adds much more on STs. Sort of like a Jake Kumerow.

The other nice thing that is easy to forget is that it's only two weeks - it's not like they are spending the entire pre-season there.  A short period to have the bonding etc then it's back to Buffalo and business as usual up to the start of the season

I think there's a few guys making the roster we won't be expecting and WR5/6 is one of those spots where I agree there could be a big surprise. I am also thinking D-line and corner could be a "funky" area of the roster.

Sean McDermott says he feels Curtis Samuel is “moving in right direction… making some progress.

He's been moving in the right direction for 2 years

No surprise there.

No, but I was surprised McDermott said he expects him to be there today.

Seems to be getting a bit more contentious, otherwise I would think McD would just sidestep the topic .. something like “we obviously hope he’s out there, but…”

Honestly, at this point, I'd rather roster Shavers than Samuel. Samuel just cannot seem to stay healthy.

That said, I haven't heard a peep about Elijah Moore since his injury, and I can't help but wonder if he's not the roster lock people seem to think he is.

Coleman
Palmer
Shakir
Shavers

Samuel
Moore

Would seem to be the six, if they keep six.

In any case, McDermott's comment about Shavers sure doesn't make it seem like he's a player they're about to cut. You can only sneak a guy like him onto the practice squad so many times before he gets scooped off waivers.

McDermott was pretty effusive in praising Shavers last year too. Still a long way to go before cut downs. Think he would need to beat our Moore and his 2.5 million dollar guaranteed contract as 6 WRs is probably unlikely with all the guys on the DL. They may start with Shavers on the practice squad along with Cain, Virgil and Wilkerson and elevate those guys to play gunner throughout the year.
