Mostly likely was staged even if the Browns didn't know about it -- the guy who fell in the water was an "influencer" who immediately put the video on his feeds.

Ahhh Love the Browns, they put the dis in disfunctional!

You could also argue that they put the "y" in dysfunctional... well, maybe not you... but one could make that argument.

They should have played the 3 stooges' music or from the Benny Hill show.

Or Addams family

Maybe their logo should match their team mascot ... "Brownie the Elf".  Or, maybe not  ...

I met a lady at family weekend at our kids rehab facility who had a tattoo on the back of her neck that said (In a very pretty font):

”I Put The FUN in Dysfunctional!”

The dentist from Ohio was bold enough to ask for and get a pic of her tattoo. Years later I hate that missed opportunity! 😂

Yeah, go figure…..

Yes! When the guy fell, he didn't even remotely looked surprised. Arms didn't go up.....no attempt to keep his balance.

And if that's the best they got staging a reveal, why bother?

Lmao - did no one catch the name of that new helmet?

It’s literally called the “Alpha Dawg”!

Don’t worry, my people are already preparing the suit and are in touch with their people 💰🔫

The one guy on the platform was so blown away he couldn't control his legs.

More likely jumped, like rats deserting a sinking ship...

My theory is that the sight of the helmet caused his bladder to fail so rather than piss down his leg in front of the entire universe, he opted for the lake.

What many initially thought was an accident involving a person falling into Lake Erie while filming the reveal turned out to be the miraculous scheme of a well-known social media influencer.

Ross Smith, better known alongside his partner in crime and grandmother Pauline Kana or "Granny Smith," staged his fall on the North Coast Harbor of Lake Erie that made the already-viral star trend online.

Thanks for the link but unfortunately it leaves a lot of my questions, unanswered.

For instance, what degree if any were the Browns complicit in this stunt?... because why would they agree to do something that makes them look so stupid?

And if the Browns didn't know he was gonna pull this stunt, how is it that "well-known social media influencers" insinuated themselves to being on the barge in those key positions at a major team event?

Was it that the Browns know that he and his Grandma were influencers and were hoping for good publicity?

Subsequently did the dude and his Grandma double cross the Browns and betray the trust placed in them by the team in order to increase their followers?

What an ever-stranger world we're living in.

The Browns helmet unveiling was sponsored by Dude Wipes who also sponsors the influencer so it is likely he got in thru that connection.

One would think the Browns didn't know about his plan but who knows?  Maybe someone in the Browns org felt all publicity is good publicity.

PT Barnum did say that there's no such thing as bad publicity but obviously there are exceptions.

I'd be very interested to know what the Browns did or didn't know.

Were they caught unawares? If so that's a bad look.

Did they plan for this to be a farce? If so, bad idea. A team with a reputation for dysfunction should probably try to avoid this kind of buffoonery.

I'd also be interested to know why the helmet unveiling sponsorship was relegated to Dude Wipes. Most NFL teams have 8-10 corporate sponsors. None of them were willing to sponsor the event?

Regardless of the answers or lack thereof, there's nothing about this debacle that reflects well on the Browns. They're inept, either because they couldn't control the process or because they decided to turn the event into a joke.
