Sabres win again!  Nice win beating Toronto!  Guess who’s in 3rd place in the Atlantic this morning?

It sure is nice to see the Sabres playing well…and beating Toronto is always fun to send their fans home in a surly mood.  At least they had the Jays win to celebrate.

 

This Lyon guy is a revelation.

That's the spirit. Are you actually watching these games? If you were you'd notice some differences from past teams.

Another nice win! They played a solid 3 periods again tonight. Though they did make me a bit nervous in the 3rd. When the leafs got within a goal then started pressing hard to tie it, I was just waiting for the Sabres to give up a goal. It looked like a familiar late game collapse was coming. But it never did! lol

 

Lyon made a huge save on Macelli then Power made a great play to get Tuch the empty netter and seal the win. I didn’t think it was Lyon’s best overall game, but he came up big when it mattered.

 

Lyon seems like a great veteran addition to the locker room. I love his media interviews. He seems like an experienced, calming presence for the team. And with him playing such a big role right now I think his words carry more weight (vs. if he was just a backup).

 

Tage seems to be maturing as a leader. I’ve liked what he’s had to say so far this season. Hopefully he’s starting to get going now. We just need Dahlin to join the party. lol. He’s Buffalo’s best player but he’s been anything but that to start this season. Imagine once he gets going too, and they add in Kesselring, and if Samuelsson keeps playing like he has… The blue line could be a true strength this season.

 

 

I’ve actually been enjoying watching their games. I sure hope that continues. I so badly want to have a reason to be a die hard Sabres fan again. I miss it. But my guard is still up for sure, and I know how little patience I have for them. It’s going to take more for me to fully invest again. They were in a playoff position at Thanksgiving last season after all (which usually predicts a playoff berth).

You’re missing out on some great hockey.  This isn’t last years Sabres.  It’s a a fun watch so far this season

I did watch a couple of games, and they were impressive. I'll definitely be checking out some more games.

The goalie was very much in net when Tuch netted his shorty.  I wish we could pot one of those length of the ice empty netters that seem so common against us.

Freakin UPL... I'm never comfortable when he's in net and tonight is another example. The tying goal he just flat out missed and the OT goal he reacted slow. But at least we got a point out of it..

I'm skeptical that KA is willing to eat that error and also that Lord Terrance is willing to pay that contract in Rochester. 

 

Furthermore, if you waive him to Rochester who is the #1 in Rochester? Doesn't he then interfere with The Chosen One's minutes in Rochester?

 

On top of that how much do you trust the tiny sample sizes of the other goalies? Lyon is performing well above his career numbers and Ellis has a total of one NHL game.

 

The likelihood is that UPL will get several more starts at a minimum before they make any sort of decision and he will have to be epically terrible during those starts to end up the odd man out.

Oh, I'm certain he will be given every opportunity to fail upwards. It's the Sabres' way under present ownership. I was really just saying UPL is not a tradeable commodity given his contract.

 

Levi may end up being an AHL star that can't make the jump. Aside from a twenty game stretch when UPL played well, he's been a subpar goalie, and KA rewarded him with a big contract. I have more hope in the alternatives, but that isn't saying much.

Soon as I saw he was playing i thought loss.  Sabres were giving up about 2.5 goals a game, he shows up and boom 4.
