Interesting comments by Sam Monson of the 33rd team.    Says Beane got "butt hurt" and was "big mad" at PFF.  😂

Why is every Bills radio or podcast guy 60+ with a gray beard? Would love to start something on here with a new generation

Bills radio needs a breath of fresh air, no disrespect intended

We should start a TSW pod!!!

I find this interesting actually

beanes an emotional dude. It is what it is. Starting to come through more and more as time goes on. In the beginning it’s endearing and welcomed change of vigor

but with each passing year of not getting it done (beating chiefs or getting to a Super Bowl) he’s starting to be too emotional

and that’s my biggest gripe with this org. They’re too culture centrric. Everybody believes. And loves each other. It affects their draft picks and priorities in offseason. And it affects their contracts.

Funny, as after watching a bunch of podcasts/shows on youtube the last few weeks, including the awful Schopp and the Bulldog, I was thinking the exact same thing.  That if the new ones are competent, it could not be worse than what is out there now, especially compared to the jaded lazy barnacles just picking up a paycheck.

Young, hard working new blood needed.

As far as podcasts, I am enjoying most of the Shout shows, as Matt Parino is a good, prolific writer and his shows are like his writing--not any grandstanding or filler, no arrogance at all, and solid, fact based information and analysis.

When he has criticisms it comes across as so much more legitimate than so many other podcasters, broadcasters, writers (and posters on this forum), not hate filled bashing. As that is not his main objective.  And not many would read his articles if that were the case.

I don’t even have to watch this to know he’s got the thinnest skin of any GM in the league. He’s very good at his job for the most part but he’s not perfect and he needs to own it and get better and not be so defensive.

Anthony Prohaska and the Cover1 guys say "Hi"
Whether you like them or not, separate issue, but they're not 60+ and don't have grey beards

Matt Parrino and Ryan Talbot more fluff and less technical but also not 60+ with grey beards

Nothing wrong with competition,  I don't know them, I'm somewhat familiar with the Cover1 brand but I still rely on TBD as my go to source for everything Bills.

I feel like if a few of us got together we could make our own lane!!

You don't HAVE to watch it.   But thru the magic of technology I linked it right to the moment where Beane is called out.

I am critical of Beane as a personnel man.........he's no scout and his free agency track record in particular has been simply horrendous...........but I have long been a huge fan of Beane the executive.

He's been a puppet master with fans.....and seemingly ownership.............and that buys you a ton of runway.

That's critical to making it when you are faking it(which is how many big successes begin........and let's face it,  Pegula wasn't going to be getting a regime that didn't have to fake it.......it's about the best result we could have expected getting these guys).

I was disappointed that Beane showed his a$$ on WGR though.   That was cringe-worthy and weak.

I don't really care if he owns his failures but he should just keep quiet.   Real gangsters don't rap.   He had that working for him and that made him look strong.     Now he's the guy who responded with questions about having a WR1 with "I signed Joshua Palmer".

Delta Force is culture-centric.  It doesn't seem to affect their selection process or priorities in any kind of negative way.  Being culture-centric isn't a problem; it's a strength.

PFF is the journalism equivalent of hotdog water.

Example: he tags Beane as "sensitive" saying PFF "had to" change the way they grade free agent signings because Beane called them up to complain about the way they graded the Matt Khalil signing.

He's got to be talking about the Carolina Panthers signing Matt Kalil in 2017.

Beane was not the GM who signed Matt Kalil.  He was assistant GM and probably had some involvement - but also absolutely no "skin in the game" for how the Panthers got "graded" by PFF for that signing since he must have known he was on his way to Buffalo.

Dave Gettleman was that GM.

Now I don't know how Gettleman runs things, but in general, assistants do not take it upon themselves to call up a company their organization does business with and threaten them.  They might make that call- but only at the behest of the actual GM.

The other thing is: PFF "sells" themselves as being objective and analytic-based in their grading.  So if they changed it in response to customer pressure, what does that say about PFF?

I can’t recall the media running with instances of any other NFL GM’s giving local radio stations 💩 for their takes.  The title given by monson carries little weight, but he’s doing what the media is supposed to do.  Create storylines.  Whether or not it’s true, 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sure, but they are specifically selecting from a group of killers, not a mix of choir boys and killers.

I think Beane is open to fair criticism but it's not because of "culture".

The criticism that Beane had under-resourced the WR position in the draft up through 2024 is fair IMO.   I also think it's a fair point that our offense is our strength, so invest in it rather than continually searching for a top defense we haven't managed to achieve.  A couple more plays on offense get us there.  Potentially a couple better players make those plays.

The fact is, a number of Beane's attempts to put the Bills over the top have not provided decent return on investment.  Von Miller is the biggest example, but I don't think they got what they expected with Emmanuel Sanders or Amari Cooper either.

But I don't think the issue is the Bills "culture" or "signing for culture".  It's more taking a big risk to sign a undeniably great, but 33 yr old DE to a big contract and pinning your Superbowl hopes that he will work out.

Yeah the Matt Kalil signing turned out to be horrendous.   Gettlenutz wasn't the GM he was on leave with cancer.   But they didn't want to elevate Beane because DG was supposed to get his job back when he recovered.   So they brought back ol' Marty Hurney to technically fill the role temporarily so they didn't have to "demote" Beane later.........but Beane was doing a lot of the GM work at that point.
