That's going to be on the new WRs we added to make that happen.  There is a reason we didn't move the ball all that well in the early matchup with this last year.  We didn't have a single guy that could create separation one on one and they knew it.  They got up in our WRs faces, brought the safeties down and dared us to beat them down the field and we couldn't do it because we didn't have the talent at WR.  There's a reason we went out and took a flyer on Cooper.  It was painfully obvious we needed more.  As it turns out, while it looks like the wheels may have fallen off Cooper last year, he was good enough to make a couple of great contested catches down the field that opened up things just enough for the offense to get back on track.  The Playoff game went a little better on offense, but it's not like we went out there and moved the ball at will.  Make no mistake about it.....it wasn't easy for the offense either game against them last season.  I do have higher expectations for our WR group with the additions of Palmer and Moore, but they have to prove they can beat teams down the field in order to force teams to back their safeties off again.  If we can't create separation on a regular basis, it's going to be tough going once again.

We got outplayed in the playoff game, but also played very conservatively on offense as a strategy to protect a defense that was wildly outmatched. 

 

Bills had 20 first downs that game, ran the ball 36 times, and threw it just 22

Right.....and that will not result in a win more often than not.  The turnovers happened so you can't take them away, but that is not a game plan that we can rely on to beat that team too often.

Teams with the lead run the ball especially when they are really good at running the ball.

 

In what way did the Ravens outplay the bills?  The Bills controlled the game at the line of scrimmage, The defense got takeaways, the offense did not commit a turnover.   That is playoff winning football.  The Ravens did the opposite.

Maybe "outplayed" is the wrong term here, but Ravens' potential for scoring was higher in that game. 

 

The vibes of that game felt like Buffalo just trying to contain the Ravens and just survive. 

 

But to your point, that's just often playoff football. 

 

And I should also give credit to the Bills coaching staff which I thought did a phenomanel job that night

They had the #1 offensive EPA by a quite a margine, and defensively they were #8.

Ravens outgained us 416-273. Went 7/10 on 3rd down and 1/1 on 4th down. 

 

Without Lamar gifting us a couple of turnovers there's no way we win the game. Even winning the turnover margin 3-0 it came down to Mark Andrews dropping an easy 2 pt conversion.

Bills sign Bosa and Tre White - lets celebrate. We are instantly better.

Ravens sign Alexander - who cares. This does nothing for them, he will be hurt by week 9.

 

$6M max for this guy is a good deal. Would have been worth the gamble.

Yes that is called winning in the playoffs.

 

make mistakes, lose....force mistakes, win.  

 

The takeaways were not gifted they were earned.  The strip of Andrews was not lamar gifting turnovers.

 

The Bills were never chasing the game and the ravens seemingly were chasing it all night.

Depends how much he is on the field. If the last 2 years are any indication, it won't be very much...especially going to a team that is extremely questionable in terms of doing things to ensure players are kept as healthy as possible.

I was just about to swoop in to say “no, we didn’t get outplayed.” The Bills were one more yard from taking a commanding 31-19 lead. Instead they settled for the FG and sat on the 27-19 lead until BMore made us pay. Whole second half on offense was playing not to give the game away.

We also did a stupid flea flicker play on offense that lead to a turnover in that first game, and killed a potential comeback. That is on Joe Brady.

 

Remember how the second half started in that game? The Ravens went 3 & Out. Bills got the ball and drove down for a touchdown.

 

Ravens get the ball and go 3 & Out AGAIN! Bills get the ball, get to midfield and do a stupid unnecessary flea flicker which resulted in a turnover and put the game out of reach.
