The day EJ hit the tent was an all-time day on this board.

The day the music died and survived all at once

I’m sorry, this just makes me very sad.

It all led to getting Josh Allen, McDermott, and Beane.

Thank you, I feel much better now. This place is much cheaper than therapy.

Been saying it since the draft - The best QB on that roster is Sanders. And yet he is not gonna get a shot at the job.

Only in Cleveland.

It shouldn’t be about this year with Sanders, it should be about giving him the best chance to succeed long term. No need to rush him out there. He’s got some things to clean up.

Sure. But when someone is clearly the best Quarterback on the roster not having them play is never the right decision.

Disagree. It depends on what the best thing for the development of that particular rookie QB is. If he’s the best and ready to go, then sure. If he needs some work on mechanics, etc. first, then get him right before putting him on the field. Starting him week one and having to pull him after a few weeks is far worse than him sitting him a half - or even whole - season before starting. It all depends when he’s ready.

Shorts are a tough job to evaluate quarterbacks

I didn't have a top three round grade on Sanders and I think a One-Stop Joe flacco is still absolutely better

We're not talking about long-term ceiling .. there's zero world where Sanders is a better quarterback than Joe flacco right now in a live NFL game

You can sit a guy who is clearly the best guy for 2 weeks. Or 3 weeks. You can't do it much beyond that. Your locker room won't buy it and frankly the guy who is better and sitting won't buy it either. You might have been able to do that 25 years ago. You can't today.

I didn't love Sanders either (although I did have a day 2 grade). But I think the rest of the options suck. And he will end up comfortably the best guy on that roster. And I do mean comfortably.

Oh yes. I remember being like that can't really be true.

But it was

EJ was one of our QBs I never had any hope for. Like, Losman had me sort of hopeful for a while because of that big arm and his connections with Evans. Edwards had the whole "reminds me of Joe Montana" stuff from Bill Walsh and for a few games looked good.

EJ from the moment he was drafted just had me thinking nope, this guy will never amount to anything. I remember that drive against the Panthers when they scored in the last seconds and he was on his knees thanking God and the whole crowd was going wild. Even then I just couldn't get excited about the guy.

He has 250 touchdowns to even reach the career of Joe flacco

I don't think much of Joe but I 100% would rather have Joe flacco as my quarterback than shador Sanders

Who I do not think is a starting quarterback in the NFL and Joe flacco has proven he's a decade-long starter with a super bowl

stronger arm can read zone coverage better quicker release.. Sanders has his name and 40 passing touchdowns in college.. that's basically it

I have not been high on Sanders for years and I'm not going to magically flip it

He's tyrod Taylor with less mobility.. a 6 ft 1 pocket passer who can't move great and doesn't have a crazy strong arm

He is good against man coverage which is a plus, but he's a little weak versus zone which most of the NFL does

The only real exception to this would be Mahomes in 2017.  Everyone on the team knew he was going to be a star and already the best QB on the rostetr.  Alex Smith was an entrenched veteran though and Andy Reid's outstanding coaching resume up to that point allowed them to "get away with it" for lack of a better term.
