The story that came out a few years back confirmed everything I needed to know about Pegula. Where it was reported that, even with all the winning and success, he regretted signing so much control away to McD and Beane. You’ll never see me advocating for McD to be fired.

I’m struggling finding it now as well which is weird since he does so few interviews.

It wasn't a print story that I am aware of.   It was verbatim from Paul Hamilton.   He's repeated it numerous times on-air from his sources within what was PSE.   Hamilton is about as reputable as anyone in the Buffalo media.   

 

Obviously, the fact that Pegula will let this drought drag on 14 years without ever turning everything over to some proven pro's speaks to his stubbornness.    Even Ralph threw up his hands and gave up full control to Tom Donahoe at one point.    

 

However,  it speaks well of Pegula's character that he promised full control to McBeane and has clearly honored that.  That story is equally substantiated.   Nobody has ever publicly admitted it but it's understood as fact.  

 

 But the other story that has been making the rounds since 2017 was that Pegula and Whaley were both all-in on drafting Patrick Mahomes but McDermott wanted to wait until he and Beane had a full season of scouting QB's.    So if you were an owner and the situation goes down where the player you wanted to select has personally eliminated your otherwise SB contending over and over........you might be inclined to think you could have done just as well if allowed some input.

They wouldn't be selling any PSLs if not for Josh Allen mostly, but who got him to Buffalo? Big Baller Beane.

 

But I do recall reading that Terry wanted Mahomes so he wasn't totally wrong there.

If the Bills had Mahomes they would be very good like they are now with Allen, but Mahomes would still be trying to get to and win his first Super Bowl if he were a Bill.  Allen would already have multiple rings if he were a Chief. Reid > McDermott. Spags > then any Bills DC recently. Most important the Chiefs team steps up in big games/moments the Bills have not.

I meant he loved Josh in the following draft and might have pushed for them to draft him.  I don't know.

Game one tonight of the SCF. I think the Cats win in 7. Bob gives them an advantage in net over Skinner. I really don't care who wins. I just want the games to be competitive with a couple going to OT.
