I'd like to end up with Legette (or Thomas/Mitchell, if they fall), Van Pran, and Bullard/Bishop by the end of day 2. Beane would have to make some trades to pull it off, but it's not a ridiculous ask. Then I'd take the best DT left on my board, and then the best RB. But I'm not in on Center before Day 3. Personally, I see what McGovern excels at being better suited at Center. And obviously, so do they. I don't see them telling him he's getting his wish, re-signing Edwards at a pay raise to start at LG (who was a consistent starter before last year and Kromer is a fan of), signing Clapp as depth who started most of last year for the Chargers, and then spending a premium pick on another Center. If that is a true story, the day 2 Center won't happen. Move up DT -- Sweat, Jenkins, Fiske, there are a bunch of candidates. The main point is that while Beane "has work to do," what needs to be done is not some unlikely and super difficult task. I really like watching McConkey’s route running, but I don’t think the Bills will take him. I would also like Latu, but he is unlikely to be available. Of the WRs that have a reasonable chance to be there, I guess I would go Mitchell, but I’m not super crazy about that. On the flip-side, I would be a little disappointed if they took Troy Franklin at 28 - if they took him somewhere in the 2nd I would Be more happy with it. They need D, but I don’t have any big favorites besides Latu and maybe Verse. I have the same list in Round 1 plus Xavier Worthy and Xavier Legette is more than a consolation prize to me. As for the Chiefs, people just need to accept they're going to get a WR too and believe whomever we take will be as good as theirs or better, whether it's before them or after them. We both have needs there and we're going to take a guy and they're going to take a guy. It just is what it is. It's so annoying to me seeing people say "we have to trade up and make sure we get someone before the Chiefs" and "we CAN'T let the Chiefs get (x) player" - and then depending on who's saying that, it's literally every WR that should be in range. We all have our personal favorites. But there's no guarantee that who we take, whether we do it before them or after them, is going to end up the better NFL WR - and vice versa. Anytime I see this said, I know "the tape" being watched is just the highlight reel. Dig a little deeper and you'll see a lot of "lowlights". The scary thing about the Combine performance is it highlighted a lot of the stuff I saw on film. Especially the 1.61 10 Yard Split (which ranked dead LAST amongst all WR's) which explained a lot of footage of him struggling to get off the line (often against weak, non-NFL prospect CB's). His speed is a long gaining speed. Separation doesn't come until much later in the route. And of that speed, he tested slower than expected, nowhere near the guys he was expected to be at and slower than a lot of guys he was expected to smoke. I was ready to accept maybe it was just because he was sick. Then his Pro Day came and he chose to stand by those times, instead of re-running. And that's not even taking into account the less than expected physical measurements that sickness has nothing to do with. He's a 2nd Round Prospect to me and shouldn't be taken, and proabably won't be taken, before Thomas, Mitchell, Worthy, Legette, McConkey, or Coleman. If we take another position before WR in Round 1 and we take him somewhere in Round 2 with all of those guys gone - that's fine. At 28 and with any of those players available, i'd be disappointed. Certainly possible the Chiefs target a defensive tackle somewhere, Jones turns 30 in July and while they did bring Nnadi back to start at 1T he is only on a 1 year deal.
