Good news for us.  Sneed was a good player.  I thought he was the unsung hero for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl this year

He’s definitely a great player. But I thought he played just ok in the Super Bowl. Gave up that TD to Jennings. Then would’ve given up the go ahead TD to Jennings in OT if there wasn’t pressure from Chris Jones on Purdy.

That's fair but I also remember him making  a handful of big stops too.  A cornerback is similar to an Offensive Lineman when they get beat by a rusher who gets to the QB it's going to stand out much more than the good plays they are making throughout the game.

According to this KC would have gotten the same 3rd round pick if they just let Sneed walk. That means all they really got was the 7th!

Problem is they would have had to pay him this year though, which they can't/don't want to.

Comp picks are after the regular picks I believe. So essentially a little better. Especially if the Titans are bad again.

They didn’t really gain an extra 7th either. Just flipped theirs with Tenn. Really just a case of getting whatever they can for a player they wouldn’t be able to keep.

the 3rd they’re getting is 2025 though!

Yes ... which should be later in the third round since Atlanta has made some significant moves to challenge Jax in the AFC South this coming season.

Just like the Bills got a third for Edmunds.

At least they didn't get another first or something crazy like that......

But, they got something for an asset and while I am glad he's off their team, it stinks that they are probably going to be able to add a good, young, cheap piece in the draft.

It’s next year 2025.  They just traded their best DB and you are thinking negative.  If the Bills traded Douglas for a 3rd next year, you would be apoplectic.  That’s a loss for the Chiefs.

it’s interesting how little good players are traded for in the modern NFL.  I guess he was going to be difficult w signing a long term deal and he got shipped out.  The Jamie Collins syndrome.  Lol

The only teams that didn’t get the memo are the Broncos and Browns given how much they gave up for Russell Wilson and Desean Watson.

It’s unusual for Kansas City to botch a situation like this

It’s hard to say they botched it. They knew what his contract demands were and didn’t want to meet them so they had to move him.  The problem for them is that the contract demands hamstring how much they can get back for him.

It was a smart move,  they have Trent McDuffie only 24 who already a star and on a rookie controlled contract for the next 2 seasons.  Why pay Sneed,  this is why Beane and the Bills are always in cap jail.  You don't need two lockdown corners and yes Beane overpaid on Johnson

So it’s good they lost the best Cb in the nfl last year? Got ya, and the Bills overpaid for a top 5 slot cb at $10M… ok sure. Last year was the first year the KC D was good. What other corner do the Bills currently have on the roster who is overpaid? TW had injuries that killed his career. Now he’s gone. The Bills never paid two “ lock down “ corners. Your argument makes no sense. The Bills have cap challenges because the QB is rightfully paid at top 5 market value. And Von was overpaid and under healthy.

There's no guarantee it would have been a third rounder, and even if it was, it would be at the end of the 3rd round aka it's basically an early 4th. If the Titans are a non playoff team as expected, KC will pick mid-3rd round at worst.

They got a 2025 3rd rounder, which is like a late 4th rounder.  Kind of low but not surprising.  I remember when some people were pissed the Bills didn't franchise Gilmore because they thought the Bills could trade him for a first or even 2nd rounder.  That was never going to happen.

Gilmore was very likely to yield a 1st or 2nd rounder in trade.   He immediately became the top free agent on the market that season.   By A LOT.   It's supply and demand and the demand for shut-down CB's was higher then.   Since spring of 2017 CB contracts have stagnated as the league in general has turned more to a bend-don't-break philosophy in the secondary.   We aren't likely to see a CB win NFL DPOY again any time soon.

But back then a CB could and did win NFL DPOY.   Stephon Gilmore, in his second season in NE did, actually.   And Bob Woods also left during that 2017 offseason and also became an All Pro.

Guess how many comp picks the Bills got for losing an NFL defensive MVP and an All Pro WR?

But yeah, mock the Chiefs for only getting a 3rd and a 7th.

Just reporting what was out there. I have no idea how it would have worked out. It is an interesting take & if true, would seem KC didn't get the 2nd rounder they may have been playing for.

Chiefs got a 2025 3rd round pick, and the teams swapped 2024 7th round picks.
Titans robbed them.

The Titans also had to give him a 4 year $76M contract with $55M guaranteed.  He was the number two FA CB behind Jaylon Johnson (CHI).  Sure KC had several legitimate potential trading partners.

But, as we learned, escaping at the right time from not being able to afford salary cap number increases is a tremendous factor in most trades nowadays (unless you’re Denver!!).
