We don’t know exactly what Campbell said pre game but that was 3-4 hours earlier. He probably should’ve reminded him before the drive or during a timeout.

Definitely agreed with that. It’s not the refs job to remember something that was mentioned to him nearly 4 hours earlier.

Having said that, it looks like Decker is telling the ref he’s reporting while Skipper is innocently running in his direction not saying anything at all. THAT is definitely on the refs to get right regardless of Campbell’s warning.

It's haunting that the refs' ineptitude basically threatens to swing any close game.

Here’s the thing, the refs are screwed if they get the flag right or wrong. Their best bet is to just not throw the flag. Unless it’s a play like the Saints got screwed on a while back then no one will care if no call is made.

Seriously so many games come down to refs or rules, how many times are we going to have these conversations without just admitting it’s a major flaw of the sport itself. These conversations are beyond predictable.

of all the officials I know they always say they love basketball officiating for the speed of the game and football for the rules and mechanics.

wow u can see goff telling decker to go report here and he goes over and does it in the other videos

Yes, we know Decker likely reported but the issue was 3 linemen are acting like they’re reporting. It was a trick and they tricked the ref.

Ref should’ve confirmed who was eligible.

they didn't trick brad allen.

allen screwed up who reported eligible.

the fact that he was told they were doing this in pregame makes it even worse since he should have been expecting it.

but hey jimmy johnson went into the redneck ring of honor and that is what really matters.

Honestly, not caring who won this game, I am a bit happy that the Lions foolish trickery backfired and they ended up fooling the ref.

Just send one lineman to report. Hopefully McDermott is taking notes.

Not sure how we have typically handled lineman reporting in the past. I do think we were flagged on one earlier in the year ourselves.

100% they did.

if they only send one lineman instead of three this doesn’t happen.

In a play where the paid rules analyst comes on and states “there was no reason to rush anything because the clock was stopped so that eligible players could be reported to the defense”…why was the ref in such a hurry? Why didn’t he make sure he knew what was going on? Why so quick to throw a flag if you weren’t sure?

Mr. Allen you sir are fake and no longer need to be an NFL referee

This is wild. He is actually answering questions and believes 100% that 70 reported, not 68.

68 wasn't lined up in an eligible position to go out for a pass.

Doesn't matter which one reports, the only way a lineman can catch a pass is if they're lined up in the TE, WR or RB position and they report.

The reason they are reporting is because they have a jersey # that isn't eligible to lineup in the TE, FB or WR spot.

The players lined up in the C, G or OT positions are never eligible to catch a pass.

68 was legal if he reported. The illegal formation they actually called was on 70 because they thought he reported. He was covered up. Can’t have 2 eligible WRs on the line. They thought 70 was eligible because the ref said he reported.

LOl. In reference to 68 reporting/not reporting as eligible, Football Zebras responds like a boss:

The tweet he replied to, now deleted, just said if Football Zebras is going to blindly support the refs, he is unfollowing him.

I just want to add besides the absurd ending, the officials missed a blatant PI on jourdan lewis.  He was all over the lions wr before and after the ball was thrown and there was no flag...they just let dallas do it on that final drive but the lions overcame it.

I really hope Detroit gets a shot at them again.  If Dallas wins in the wc round and detroit does too if the seahawks were to be the 7 and upset philly which is a 50 50 game Dallas would go to detroit and seattle to SF.   This would be great.

Campbell is a moron.  With a #1 seed still in the sights, you kick the extra point. This “going for the win” crap is something reserved for teams whose seasons are lost. I hope Detroit gets bounced in the 1st round.

Statistics say go for 2 there because you don't even know for sure if you'll get the ball in OT. If you do you have to execute an entire drive. A lot can go wrong. One play for 7 yards for the win gives you the best shot even though it's not ideal. It's not as clear cut as it would be from the 2 but I understand his decision.
