TB / Buffalo Postgame thread

The punts were the right call, but they changed to a conservative offense way too early.

And will someone please take that shotgun run on short yardage play and shove it so far up Dorsey’s ass that he can never find it again!

Started out good, Allen got a designed run, spread formations, 4 wide empty out of shotgun.

And then slowly we reverted back - tight formations, shotgun runs from the 1-inch line, 2nd-down runs in the red zone, McDermott taking horrible timeouts at the end of the first half and second half, the pace slowed down, the energy dropped.

And my gosh you see Harty making those kind of returns and you can’t find a way to get that guy the ball on offense????????????????

Freaking 2-feet and Tampa wins this game.

Board is off their rocker tonight imo with some of this…the timeout to close out the first half was actually really savvy.  Tb wanted that fg attempt to close out the half with no risk of buffalo getting the ball back.

the goal line run out of shotgun absolutely deserves to be criticized

a receiver being 2 feet away from a Hail Mary is almost winning a game? Come on.  No one even knew where the ball was on either team because it was an absolute duck lol

Agreed. I have no problem with punting the ball up 14 in the 4th and making them face a long field. Nothing wrong with that.

I have a huge issue with not being able to get a game clinching first down, which is a mark of a good team. Good teams close out games late when they have the ball. I don’t know how much of that is on McD or not. But if you’re gonna punt on fourth down anyway, then throw a four yard pass and covert a first down instead of running into the teeth of the D that is playing run all the way.

But that’s not my main gripe tonight. Instead, once again, McD’s game management vis a vis those timeouts, left a lot to be desired. A HC must be a good game manager, period. And too often in his tenure, McD has shown he just isn’t up to the task. It’s quite maddening and it’s why I feel he lacks the chops to get us there.

They got the 1st down with the Diggs catch.  The Browns got the ball at their own 20 yard line with 21 seconds left. That they actually got within a few feet of winning the game is a trademark of a McD defense. It was almost as bad as "13 seconds".

The offense was great today.  Over 400 yards, 25 first downs and 24 points 3 minutes into the 3rd quarter.  McD then made a decision to play it safe and protect his D with a 14 point lead.  In hindsight it almost bit him in the butt.  Over the next 10 days McD has to consider what this team needs from the offense. IMO McD is to quick to use the O to protect his injury riddled defense.  But that's the wrong approach.  Keep the peddle to the metal and score points.

The offense was good, not great. They left a good 10-14 points on the field. This game should have been a blowout by the middle of the third.

Y’all are making it sound like a receiver had their hands on it or something lol this is the exaggeration of a lifetime…that Hail Mary might have been one of the furthest from being completed I’ve ever seen.  Nobody even located the football to make a play on it

What's relieving is you see what it can be with tweaks. That had gone away for a little while, but it's in there. Gotta get it tuned properly for this big stretch of games.

Punted 4 straight times in the second half and we’re throwing high fives?

Didn't sustain it tonight.

Your logic is flawed….they are making these in game decisions with the current opponent in mind.  That is my whole point.  They’re not gonna say ‘well the chiefs have a good offense so let’s go for this 4th and short on the 40 against the bucs’ lol it’s illogical.

Tbs win percentage probably goes way up if we attempted those 4th and shorts.  One stop and it’s a ballgame.  They’ve got a bottom tier offense but a pretty good defense

giants and pats the offense struggles moving the football and the offensive line got pulverized.  Tonight was a much better result against a better defense

You’re totally focused on the last 4th down, which I said was not a bad decision. 2 other 4th and shorts from past the 50 up 14 with plenty of time, even if they’re stopped doesn’t significantly increase the Bucs win %. Get 1 of them however and the Bills % does.

“One stop and it’s a ballgame”?? It ended up being a ballgame anyway using what you and the coaches think is sound logic.

People are out of their minds tonight…that Hail Mary was not even close lol it’s just about as far as you can get on a ball that made it to the end zone

baker didn’t have the arm strength to get it there so he had to throw an absolute rainbow

The offense was great.  The CHOICE to throttle down was made by the coaches.  From an analytics standpoint it was probably the right call and it almost lost us the game.

McD will have to decide going forward what he really wants form his offense.  Tonight was an example of how it goes when he try's to play the odds and run the O close to the vest with what he assumes was a big enough lead.  He was right but barely.  Against a better team McD's decision would have cost them the game.

It's exciting how we discovered a much deeper WR corps tonight.  If they can keep getting Shakir & Davis involved like that, and Kincaid continues to develop, this is an elite offense.

That's really the Davis we all expected after the KC playoff game. He looked great tonight.

There are still some fundamental problems with the offense and defense. The defense at least has an injury excuse. The offense doesn't. Several drives in the 2nd half that could have put the game away and we just stalled out repeatedly. That stupid attempt to draw them Offside on 2nd and 1 was poor coaching. The vanilla play calling was poor coaching. The 1st and 2nd drive of the game ending with just 3 points combined was a result of poor coaching. I really think coaching is holding the offense back more than the players.

The Bills got a lot of bounces weeks 2-4, but they've evened up the ledger the last month or so, they have gone bone-dry in luck. They have been inches from strip sacks, tipped ball picks, Poyer's almost pick earlier today, and every single wacky bounce has gone to their opponent on either side of the ball. Their opponents have muffed punts and recovered them, caught our tips, everything. That will re-correct soon. We went 2-2 in this stretch of bounces, because our opponents need them to have a chance. When we start getting some again, it will make things a lot easier.

The fact that TB got to midfield and was able to hurl a ball into the end zone with a decent shot at scoring the winning TD is what we're talkign about.  I agree that it wasn't as close as some are saying but the fact that it was a lot closer then it should have been can not be denied.

Seemed fairly fn close to me. No way it should have gotten to that point…

No it’s all if them not just the last…if it’s gonna take 8+ minutes for tb to punch in the td why would you want to risk giving them good field position?

plenty of time lol how? they are vastly shortening a game that we were up two scores. A Hail Mary attempt that baker could only reach with the ball arced a mile in the air is hardly a ballgame…was us running a hook and ladder on the final play against the jags a ballgame?  Y’all are just broken from a Hail Mary a few years ago clearly 😂. That play was not even close
