Bills!Win! Posted Saturday at 01:03 AM Posted Saturday at 01:03 AM Even the defensive players look small in comparison to early 90s players. I know a lot of it is the pads, but still… Quote

Brand J Posted Saturday at 01:12 AM Posted Saturday at 01:12 AM Seems like there are a lot more injuries in today’s softer league. Guys were far more calloused up back in the day with two a day practices and legal harder hits. There was no “defenseless receiver.” I think because guys were more calloused, they probably knew how to protect themselves more. Soft tissue injuries also weren’t as frequent because they were on the field all the time. 1 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted Saturday at 01:13 AM Posted Saturday at 01:13 AM Seems like Mike has been hitting the nose candy again.... But he's not wrong. What we watch nowadays is a different sport from football of the 80s and 90s. I didn't even like Deion Sanders but he was a phenomenal athlete 2 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted Saturday at 01:13 AM Posted Saturday at 01:13 AM If Deion couldn't cover todays wide outs, it would only be a result of pass rush being almost nonexistent. Otherwise, i think the best athlete to ever play corner probably could hold his own. 1 1 Quote

But back then, they (DBs), had so much more leeway. WRs nowadays are very protected compared to old. Plus pass interference is call so much more now. Mind you, WRs also get called for push offs a lot more now as well...when they wouldn't back then. Quote
Chicken Boo Posted Saturday at 02:04 AM Posted Saturday at 02:04 AM (edited) Mike ain't lying. He would dominate today's game. He was Andre Johnson before Andre Johnson, but with more athleticism. Edited Saturday at 02:05 AM by Chicken Boo 1 Quote

Definitive drama the league likes. A half the distance penalty on anything over 30 yards be a nice reward. Anything under 15, but traditional it’s not. Quote

He dropped the Bills from 2 to #7 this week. His comments - Bills don't look right - Defensively they just can't stop the run. Poor in the secondary - Not too worried about the O, but lacking the jet fuel they've had in recent years.. something is off. - Watching vs NE, very surprised how quickly the Pats closed the gap on Buffalo in the AFC East 10. Indy 9. LA Rams 8. SF 7. Buf 6. GB 5. KC 4. Phil 3. Den 2. TB 1. Det He loves Josh Allen more than any other QB in the NFL at this point but gets burned by the Bills every single year. When he predicts they're winning the Super Bowl. The volatility of his rankings is his coping mechanism... that's all. Quote

To the extent any CB is allowed to cover in today's NFL he would still be the greatest. He's the second best defensive player in NFL history after Lawrence Taylor and just ahead of Reggie White, Bruce Smith, Ed Reed, and Ronnie Lott. 17 minutes ago, transplantbillsfan said: He loves Josh Allen more than any other QB in the NFL at this point but gets burned by the Bills every single year. Same for Denver, though they are scary. My Chargers AFC Championship game opponent prediction is looking awful now. That team has been decimated with injuries. Quote

Nah, they're going to win handily and continue to win right up to the Bills game. I'm bracing for all the chatter about how they're back, and they will be. Like Harry Potter and Voldemort, the only team that can stop them is the Bills. It has to be the Bills. Quote

Could you imagine today's wideouts having to go across the middle on Ronnie Lott? They'd likely just refuse to run the route. 1 Quote

Plus you have to remember he started his career at CB before moving to the best or second best safety of all time. Quote
SydneyBillsFan Posted Tuesday at 12:02 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:02 PM (edited) Herman is somebody whose views on football I have respected for quite some time. On ESPN Sportscenter he gave the following precis of the Bills post game when asked who he thought they were: "They are capable of beating the teams they should beat and have beaten. But the teams they've lost to are a little bit better than the Buffalo Bills. And you don't want to say that - it's hard for me to say that because I'm a Josh Allen fan. But now I've been watching them, and I'm going 'who scares you when they break the huddle'? It's like ooooh, I don't know. I mean, apart from Josh and Cook, the other guys are good players - but they don't scare you" When asked if he thought they were middle of the pack: "Yeah - because of that guy - Josh Allen! Usually Josh Allen fixes everything for them. It seems like all the time he fixes everything. And they generally play it close when he has the last possession where they can maybe win the game. But now all of a sudden it seems like the run is starting to wear him down" My personal view is that this is a damning indictment on the roster building philosophy of Brandon Beane. Sobering stuff. Yobogoya! Posted Tuesday at 12:07 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:07 PM A lot of us have been saying that for years- we have no top shelf monsters that will scare and disrupt the opponent (on offense or defense, really). McBeane believes in a team being more than the sum of its parts, and I respect that philosophy but we’ve taken it to the extreme. SOME of those parts need to be high quality parts, or the team isn’t going to be a high quality team. 5 1 Quote
Matt_In_NH Posted Tuesday at 12:09 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:09 PM This team has a history of winning a lot of games and against good teams too like the lions and chiefs last year. People on TV have to say stuff, negativity is what attracts you. Realize that and look at the whole situation over time. This team will get back on track the only question is if they can get over thebhump in the playoffs. Same question would exist if they were 6-0 1 Quote
