Seems like there are a lot more injuries in today’s softer league. Guys were far more calloused up back in the day with two a day practices and legal harder hits. There was no “defenseless receiver.” I think because guys were more calloused, they probably knew how to protect themselves more. Soft tissue injuries also weren’t as frequent because they were on the field all the time.

Seems like Mike has been hitting the nose candy again....

But he's not wrong. What we watch nowadays is a different sport from football of the 80s and 90s. I didn't even like Deion Sanders but he was a phenomenal athlete

He was amazing.  But back then, they (DBs), had so much more leeway.  WRs nowadays are very protected compared to old.  Plus pass interference is call so much more now. Mind you, WRs also get called for push offs a lot more now as well...when they wouldn't back then.

If Deion couldn't cover todays wide outs, it would only be a result of pass rush being almost nonexistent.  Otherwise, i think the best athlete to ever play corner probably could hold his own.

Deion ran a 4.27 40 coming out of FSU!

Time for a 15 yard max penalty.

I agree with spot foul.  If I'm a DB and a WR has me beat over 15 yards, I'd definitely foul him if he's only going to get 15 yards.

Pretty much unanimous that most want the “wing and a prayer” play to stay as is. Definitive drama the league likes. A half the distance penalty on anything over 30 yards be a nice reward. Anything under 15, but traditional it’s not.

Cowherd did his Herd Hierarchy today after week 5. His week to week rankings.  He dropped the Bills from 2 to #7 this week. His comments

- Bills don't look right

- Defensively they just can't stop the run.  Poor in the secondary

- Not too worried about the O, but lacking the jet fuel they've had in recent years.. something is off.

- Watching vs NE,  very surprised how quickly the Pats closed the gap on Buffalo in the AFC East

10. Indy

9.  LA Rams

8.  SF

7.  Buf

6.  GB

5.  KC

4.  Phil

3.  Den

2.  TB

1.  Det

He loves Josh Allen more than any other QB in the NFL at this point but gets burned by the Bills every single year. When he predicts they're winning the Super Bowl.

The volatility of his rankings is his coping mechanism... that's all.

Deion is a top 5 NFL player of all time. His game was all speed. To the extent any CB is allowed to cover in today's NFL he would still be the greatest.  He's the second best defensive player in NFL history after Lawrence Taylor and just ahead of Reggie White, Bruce Smith, Ed Reed, and Ronnie Lott.

Laughable he would have KC and GB ahead of the Bills. Same for Denver, though they are scary. My Chargers AFC Championship game opponent prediction is looking awful now. That team has been decimated with injuries.

Kansas City Chiefs has a high chance of being 2-4 after Sunday.

Nah, they're going to win handily and continue to win right up to the Bills game. I'm bracing for all the chatter about how they're back, and they will be. Like Harry Potter and Voldemort, the only team that can stop them is the Bills. It has to be the Bills.

Could you imagine today's wideouts having to go across the middle on Ronnie Lott?   They'd likely just refuse to run the route.
