Difference makers aren't available where we've been drafting lately

Chiefs aren't getting those kinds of guys either

Creed Humphrey, Sky Moore, Pacco all say hello.

The Bills have a GM and head coach who have taken a perennial loser and turned them in to a multi season division winner who consistently win 12+ games per year.

And a couple of bad post season losses means they suck.

I've heard Rex, Marrone and Whaley are available. lol

is this a plea to be happy with mediocracy?  Do teams with potential HOF QB, RB, DEs come into the season not expecting to win it all? Or at least not totally flop in the playoffs?

It's a ridiculous strawman because literally no one has said they suck. Not even @ScottLaw!

I mean if you put me in charge of a team for 5 years, a lot of my draft picks are going to be starters.

Doesn’t mean they’re going to be particularly high quality starters, lol

Well the difference is your team would suck but Beane's is a top 3 to 5 team in the entire NFL and continually wins playoff games every year.

Quality > Quantity

Our drafting all pros is lacking vs other GMs.

Which GM's continually draft All Pros? Can you name them?

This thread has made it's way to the forum either 3 or 4 separate times (not your fault OP). It's as if each person who discovers we have a lot of starters drafted by Beane feels like this is some how the kryptonite to the bad draft argument so they reincarnate these finding as new news. Beane drafted Allen and he is responsible for drafting a lot of our starters. That doesn't mean he's good at drafting, but I would also stop short of saying he's bad at drafting. People want extremes. He is either great or he sucks. At this point, weighing all of it, he has been above average. Allen carries that much weight. Above average teams don't usually win the super bowls either he certainly needs to get some more wins.

Came across this tweet today...

I will note that the 48% does NOT include Milano or Tre White, whom most say McD drafted using Whaley's prep work.  And if we ignore specialists and focus on the O and D starting 22, the percentage is actually 55%.

So, is that good?  Not good?

Many people don't use "disingenuous" correctly.  It doesn't mean dishonest or inaccurate.  It means pretending to know less than you actually do.  I don't think that applies to Beane's critics.

And I don't think measuring the number of starters is a good way to measure draft success.  Every team - even the Texans - is required to have 28 starters (counting specialists).  Starters aren't necessarily any good.

You need to measure a GM's stars.

We were talking about the top rounds

Then you can compare their top rounds.

There’s a reason the Chiefs traded away a future HoF receiver and ended up with a better season by winning the Super Bowl, and it’s because they hit in the positions they needed to in the draft.

You and the guy who thinks Skyy Moore and his 200 yards was a big contributor are in agreement then

Creed Humphrey was a second round pick.

I'll post them out for you.

Rousseau

Basham (who is not even on the Bills lmao)

Elam

Cook

vs.

Trent McDuffie

George Karlaftis

Skyy Moore

Creed Humphrey

Bryan Cook

Nick Bolton

Take your pick which players were better lol. I think 31 GM's would want group 2.

Do we just live in a world where the Bills have just as good drafting as the best teams in the league, just as good of a QB as the best teams in the league, just as good of a GM/coaching as the best teams in the league, just as good players as the best teams in the league, but we are just so unlucky that we haven't gotten past getting blown out in the conference championship or is it just possible, maybe, that we haven't been as good?

I'm not going to argue the point that they haven't drafted as well as their rivals recently, because they haven't.

But last year they absolutely did endure what might be the most difficult and trying season that any NFL team has ever had to deal with.

Completely fair and totally agree.

He wasn't drafted in 2021 or 2022.

I'd love to see your argument for taking Rousseau and the bums over those Chiefs players.

I didn't know we were talking about just those drafts

They were better those years

My point was that imo their drafts haven't been so overwhelimgly better than ours as to explain the very significant difference in results

So 22 receptions and ZERO TDs is a difference maker!?  That’s what Moore had last year. Stop that.
If you’re referring to Pacheco(Pacco), he was ok, but it’s a little early to call him a difference maker. CEH has similar stats his rookie season for KC and we know how that turned out. Even KC has misses. Crazy talk just to try and complain about Beane.

What this team has accomplished the past few seasons is anything but mediocre. Again. Crazy talk.
