Im not comparing them.  You’re moving parameters like you always do.

I guess Gabe Davis performance wasn’t good against the Steelers because he only had 3 catches.  Ignore every other stat.

3 for 3 in the redzone, 9 for 15 on 3rd down and held the ball for 38 minutes….none of that matters.  You cherry pick one stat that doesn’t look good and poof…we didn’t play that well.  Geezus.

This is the #1 DVOA defense in the NFL and we dominated them.

You expect perfection across the board every week.  The Bills don’t live in your unrealistic expectations and you become critical of them.

They are 6-6, not a juggernaut.  Jones' stats are fraudulent if you ask NE fans who watch every game.

Their dvoa is highly skewed on three games versus Indianapolis, New York and shutting out the Detroit Lions & throw in the Pittsburgh game. Otherwise they've been ordinary.

9-15 on third down was pretty much all Allen.

Cherry Picked stats? I pointed out the line did not play well and that is the fact.  Allen was hit six times, sacked twice and a forced fumble. He makes the line look better than it is.

Keep trying

]To be fair, they did a helluva job in the run gm and NE is a great D. There were numerous plays where Josh had plenty of time, that 20 yarder to Diggs in tight space comes to mind.

But my question is how do we improve? We have 4/5 starters under control next year. Do we move on from Brown after 2 years? Draft a RG?

That's the only position Beane has been bad at drafting and his 1 big hit, Wyatt Teller was traded too early but I'd like to draft a G in rd 1 or 2. We'll be picking 32nd 🙏 so , 1st rd isn't out of the question

I think they're a solid OL. In the 12-17 range if I were to rank them overall but Quiz did a helluva job replacing Dion going against the sack leader. We can't be top 5 in every position group

Did you miss the shovel pass to Hines or something

Or the multiple scrambles in key spots that we've just become accustomed to

This offense could not function without Allen being the best athlete in the field every game

I didn't say Josh wasn't great. I said last night was the least Josh-centric game this season. But the shovel pass to Hines is a good call as another play that not many athletes in the world can make.

I just think last night might be the first timw this season I haven't felt like Josh HAS to be Superman for the team to win. Doesn't mean he didn't play an excellent game.

Both the Hines and Davis TD was on 3rd down.  Those two plays led to 11 points (TD, otherwise a punt and TD vs. FG).

Otherwise the final score is 13-10.  Yes Josh was the difference plain and simple.

Detroit is 8th in the league in scoring and you are using it as a negative that the Pats shut them down.  “Yeah, the Pats defense would be ordinary if they didn’t play well” lol.  WTF.

Why was Dion Dawkins so bad last night?

38 minutes not good enough ball control.

What would have been good enough?  32 for Zach Wilson means we were gashed.  38 minutes last night and we didn’t play that well.  How many minutes would have been good enough for you?

Goff and brissett are absolute statues on teams that heavily rely on running the football which is the perfect matchup for those slow thumpers NE has at linebacker.  NE has been getting roughed up by dual threat qbs all year

Dawkins is an important player for us. Yes he gets beat at times but so does everyone. He also has a LOT of reps where he is stonewalling his guy and the All-22 shows Allen standing in a pocket that is immaculate.

Overall I thought they did not terrible other than a few reps for what they were working with.

Brown handled Judon one on one quite a few times and did mostly well.

Not sure if Pats are so scared of Allen running that he is instructed not to try and go wide and just kind of play contain but he is almost always a ghost against us. Recovered a fumble but other than that barely noticed him.

So we still win? That is kinda my point. It might be the first time all season we have been able to say we won without needing Josh to be superman all game. This team has been over reliant on Josh all year. He is great but he has to be great. Last night they were less Josh centric. Not because he was bad but because they had receivers open, they managed to run the ball and they shut down New England. Probably the first game all season you can say all those 3 applied at the same time.

I also agree with you that Josh covers up sins on the offensive line. I said that earlier. They rely on Dion locking down the blindside and then let Josh avoid any other rusher that comes. That was obviously worse without Dion last night. But in fairnesd to the Oline they run blocked really well.

And yes, what did we do?  We controlled the clock for the majority of the game.  We executed on 3rd down.  We were perfect in the redzone.  We ran the ball effectively.

We played very well on offense.

Mac was really inaccurate last night. I’m not a hater but he just didn’t look good. The only thing I liked about his play was his escapability in the pocket. He’s definitely smart and can move.

They had 1 drive where they called it like last week then they went brain dead..

Amazing how a Bills fan can’t tell that O coaches can make or break a QB. Hell look at Gino Smith now, he looks amazing in Seattle.. but looked like hot garbage in NY Jets. Why? COACHING.

Geno was a late bloomer. I think if Manuel had good coaching he could’ve been a fringe starter. Coaching is a lot of it but Geno was also immature and just not very good as a young QB.

We did what we wanted to a division foe.

It was a nice win, but still work to do.

Just win they did and I brought up two things I saw.

How about an "otherwise" on one wiff by Hamlin and the Pats wouldn't have had their only TD?

See how that works.

On a separate note, are you ever happy?

Just refuting garbage responses.  So 5 drops a game is normal according to you?  The Bills amassing 355 yards is a good yardstick for this offense?  24 points is a great offensive performance?

My expectations are higher.

5 drops a game consistently is not acceptable especially for this team, however, I’m willing to accept a few drops from our star WR because he always makes up for it. I’ll extend an olive branch… that Singletary drop right off the bat miffed me. That’s just too easy.

Thoughts like that, as I told you last season, is what leads to QB purgatory.  I mean you have seen the Bills QBs before Josh right?  Mac aint really any better than Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Trent Edwards, etc etc.  Good enough in a system designed to make things easy for him.  Good enough to win some games.  Not good enough to be much of anything but WC fodder.

I mean he might even be good enough to win it all if they built an outstanding team around him ala Jimmy G (who actually didnt win it all but got there) but by the time they do that, they would have to pay him serious money and the team wouldn't be able to be built.  You want to pay that guy 40 mil a year?

Trust me... Bills fans have seen this same QB playing for the Bills for over 2 decades.  Mac aint it.  Your team is never lucking into a Tom Brady again.  Your teams best bet is to just trash it all, suck for a couple season.  Take a shot at the top guy of the draft and rebuild.  I doubt Beli boy is staying around for that so I expect your team to be Bills like mediocre for quite some time.

Every game is its own animal. The Bills did what the needed to do to win this game and did so in dominant fashion.

Whether or not it meets some standard you want doesn't matter. All that matters is they keep stacking dubs. After 3 games in 12 days, all on the road and having dealt with crazy situations no other team has to deal with for the first half of it, I'll cut them some slack.

I know you are probably one of those Madden guys who believes none of that real life stuff has any effect on performance, but unlike in the game, in real life it actually does.

If the Bills wanted to put up 400+ yards, they could have done it. They didn't need to.

NE was so thoroughly dominated and demoralized they allowed the Bills to kneel the clock out with 2 minutes left and all 3 TOs.

The Bills made them give up. That's all you should need to know.

I am as big a fan as there is.  The thread pointed out two things that concerned me.  Heck I didn't talk about the win for the most part or what I thought about the game, just that I who seldom get's caught up in the OL and the nuances, saw some terrible play by the line.

I also counted at least 5 drops, which is an unusually high amount.

Others here seem to get very upset when anyone points out anything the least bit negative.

Week 3, the national media already were talking just how good the Bills were and the Superbowl odds were ridiculously low.  Allen was by far the MVP favourite too.

After the KC win,  16-1 was discussed.

Now a 24-10 win vs. NE is considered a watershed moment.  I thought it was a little disjointed effort, but again wasn't the point of the thread.

Others here changed the narrative and yes I responded.

BTW Buffalo Bills lead the league in drops.

Thursday was unusually high, though only the one by Diggs on third down was one that resulted in a punt.

Big picture, it mattered little vs. NE Thursday.

This happens in the playoffs and the Bills lose, different story.

I also noted the Diggs drop was reminiscent of the one late in the game vs. Minny, that would have ended the game effectively.  Yes I know many things went wrong that game (and I erased my recording of the game as I was so disgusted), but that was a big drop.

The LT was bad.  Our back up LT on one leg was a turnstile.  Outside of that, the OL was decent.

The offense as a unit played very well.
We can’t use redzone stats, rushing stats, time of possession or 3rd down conversions stats….only stat that matters to you in this case is total yards and sacks.

“Intelligent people I respect as I do smart debate.”  That certainly sounds like an intelligent statement.

I was thinking about putting this in a separate post but I hate it when someone opens a thread with nothing other than a player's name.  So here goes.  Spencer Brown.  I thought that after his rookie year, Brown would be All Pro by his third year.  Incredible combine metrics as far as pure athleticism is concerned, huge frame, great attitude, plays with a mean streak.  Yet gets beat over and over again on an outside rush.  Melvin Ingram undressed him in KC playoff game.  On the other hand, he appears to be very good in the run game.  Is it just a question of providing him with a smaller space to operate in?  I get that you don't see 6'7" guards but would moving him inside be an answer?  Draft OT #1 and OG #2 next spring?
