looking ahead to the Bears game - Eddie Jackson looks to be done for the season

I don't take any road games for granted, so I figured I'd post this. The Bears had three really good defensive players going into this season: Roquan Smith, Robert Quinn, and Eddie Jackson. The first two were traded and Jackson appears to have a lisfranc injury that will probably end his season: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/11/29/bears-believe-eddie-jackson-has-significant-lisfranc-injury/. The Bills will be facing a Bears D that it is genuinely devoid of talent, starting a bunch of guys few here have ever heard of (if any, truth be told): https://www.chicagobears.com/team/depth-chart.

Jack Sanborn…. Guy is a freak…. Someone better account for him.

That may be, but he's an undrafted free agent rookie who has only played a majority of the snaps on D in the last four games. For the first seven, he didn't play at all. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SanbJa00.htm. I'm not too worried about him.

Last year we lost to Jacksonville, so nothing is for certain.  Game is also Christmas Eve, so hopefully players aren't distracted with family stuff/inlaws etc. If Miami game is flexed to Sunday night, will also be facing a short prep/recovery week.

Like I said, I never take road games against bad teams for granted. Just alerting folks that the Bears are losing one of their only difference-making defensive players for the season.

I would think the Bears would be more distracted with Christmas Eve, family stuff since they will have probably "checked out" on their miserable season by then. The Bills will still have something to play for so they should be more focused on winning then DA BEARS. At least I would hope so.

I'll be at the game.

This will be my 3rd Xmas Eve game in Chicago. I've lived near Chicago my whole life, I have no Bears affiliation, but have been to many games there. The Bears had home games on Xmas Eve 2 years in a row, back when I was in HS/college. At both games I saw a guy dressed as Santa get beat up. Not sure if it was the same guy both years... The more good players the Bears are missing, the higher likelihood of pissed off fans beating up Santa.

The schedule makers didn't do me any favors on this one.  A vendor/friend of mine in Chicago had free tickets reserved for me for this game before the schedule came out.  Because it fell on X-Mas eve, I can't leave my family and fly to Chicago for a football game.

It doen't end there.  I have lots of friend and connections in Detroit, so I was targeting that game too.  Of course, that fell on Thanksgiving Day, so same thing.

The other 2 games I targeted also fell around holidays:  the Rams game was the week of Labor Day and the Packers game in Buffalo was on Halloween weekend (big one for the kids), but I was able to negotiate my way into attending both of those.  I was lucky to be able to get a flight out of Buffalo the morning after the Green Bay game and made it home just in time for Halloween night with the family.

I'm only going to one more game this year and it's in February in Arizona.  It's not negotiable.  That's a home game for me, as I live 14 miles from State Farm Stadium.

I remember Eddie Jackson scoring a TD against us the last time we played them, what an annoying game.

I am incredibly impressed with him. His instincts are off the charts. For him to play like this as an undrafted rookie is even more astounding.

He didn't start because he was behind All-Pro Roquan Smith. And when you see him play you will quickly understand why Chicago didn't pay Smith (I'm not saying he's better currently, but Smith isn't $20M/yr better that's for certain).

Also the rookie safety Jaquan Brisker has been outplaying Jackson until his recent concussion. Morrow's no slouch, either. I wouldn't say they are devoid of talent.

Anyways the game is 4 weeks away all these guys could be hurt by then, it's too early for the warm-fuzzy feels threads.

Yep, one of the few I managed to get back home for. What a waste. Missed out on Josh Allen so I could see Peterman throw a crap-ton of INTs, again.
