Once convicted of a crime involving egregiously gross disregard for human life and the commission of multiple felonies, surely you, the normal person, would be contrite and understand that you had deeply violated the social contract, no?

how do you know he was having a mental health crisis? it's just a narrative right now that i've seen no basis in fact. as of right now it's a guy arrested 40 times for things including assault along with having a warrant out for an assault. what if he was just an #######?

Self defense does. The guy was going around attacking people and eventually ***** around with the wrong guy.  Do enough bad ***** and something bad will happen to you. People are on edge getting attacked often on the subway and other places.  These are the consequences. Do you stand there getting attacked by someone having a crisis and accept death or serious injury?  I mean 40 arrests how was this guy still on the street?  At a certain point he should be give a long sentence as it's clear he can't function in society.

Earlier on Thursday, we wrote about St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner seeking a motion to dismiss the an attempt to remove her from office. The process began on February 23 when the Missouri Attorney General’s office filed the quo warranto—which as my colleague Susie Moore explained, stemmed from “serious allegations of malfeasance on the part of her office”—after a request that Gardner resign immediately.

 

 

Then in late April, a St. Louis judge lowered the boom on Gardner, writing that her office was a “rudderless ship of chaos”:

 

[St. Louis Circuit Judge Michael Noble]….held that there was sufficient evidence to find that Gardner and Assistant Circuit Attorney Chris Desilets had acted with “intentional disregard for the judicial process” and announced that he would be appointing a special prosecutor to pursue a case of “indirect criminal contempt” against them both.

 

Garner’s filing failed on Thursday, however. But now, she has resigned.

As aristocrat said, the guy was a menace to society and wasn't being dealt with properly.  This was likely inevitable and again it's a sad situation all around.

I doubt that the Marine intended to take the guy's life. He asked bystanders to call 911 almost immediately after taking the guy down.  I'm sure he thought he was preventing a potentially dangerous man (which turned out to be true based on his recent prior assaults) from hurting someone.  Also, we need to wait for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.  If after a full and proper investigation is conducted, the police determine that this Marine was in the wrong and unlawfully killed Neely, then he should and will be brought to justice.

 

And I agree with everyone else that it is a sad story all around.  This Neely person was obviously sick and needed help.  If cities were allowed to arrest the unhoused and get them the treatment and resources they needed, this vigilante wouldn't have felt the need to chokehold this sick man in the first place.

People like Neely would murder you for the 40 bucks in your wallet after being cut a felony appearance ticket for the 35th time with 30 open warrants for no showing his court date and then tell the cops he “didn’t mean to.”

 

Subways are no go zones for about 35% of NYC residents. Unfortunate that this marine didn’t understand this before deleting a magic American and getting the inevitable witch trial from the local Soros DA.
