Thoughts on draft

There's a couple options I've looked at, using draftteks trade value chart.

 

1st) Phillies 15th -1050

       Buffs     25th- 720

                     89th- 145

       2023    2nd. - 270 these points are for the last pick in the round. Which I'm sure GM's will point out. Which gives the trade a win for philly, 1050, bills 1135.

Some players, according to draftteks BB that could be available.

This first trade could be difficult because philly has 11 picks I believe, my thinking was instead of them scrambling to draft at 15,16,19, trade 1 of the first 2, and give themselves some time between picks, to work Thier board and the phones. Hasty decisions are poor decisions.

 

2nd option Giants 7th - 1500

                    Bills.    25 - 720

                                57 - 330

                     2023  1st - 590 same logic, end of first points.         1640

Derek Stingley

Demarion Leal

Ahmad Gardner.

 

This trade actually worked on "first-pick" getting the Panthers pick at 6. Went with Stingley over Hamilton, tough choice as both are elite. Who wouldn't be happy with your 2 to corners from DB Univ.

Also,  Coach McDermott promotes competition at every spot.  Look at Spencer Brown - He was drafted to be a backup for the 1st season as they had bookend tackles.  However,  Covid and competition changed it.

We got really lucky with Spencer Brown let’s not act like that’s a common thing

We need a corner with speed or a pure pass rusher on the defensive line rounds one or two of this next draft in my opinion thoughts?

 

 

In the 1st, I'd welcome either of your suggestions, a corner or a pass rusher.

 

Or a G/C, a WR or a space eating DT.

I suppose anything's possible, but outside of getting draft capital to bring in a QB the year Allen was available, their tradeups have been trading away later picks to move up just a bit for a guy who seems to be falling. That's the kind of trade I would expect. And like.

 

With the limited cap money available this year even after they let some guys go and do a few re-negotiations, they're going to need every guy who can fill even a smaller role from this draft that they can find. I can't imagine them trading away anything higher than a 5th, and probably just 6ths or 7ths.

While I’m not disagreeing, the question becomes- do you trust Beane to make a good pick, given his track record in the top of the draft?

 

Because if the answer is ‘no’, an argument could be made that more picks might be best for this regime, not less...But I do like the idea of either trading up this year, or trading for a proven vet...👍

Funny everyone claiming now is the time to trade up. I was thinking the opposite. We should trade back from our first into the early mid second and pick up another 2nd or third rounder plus. Then with the extra picks draft players we are seriously lacking starters / depth at or need cheaper depth.

 

For example we need a cb 2 or someone to atleast compete with Dane Jackson because Wallace is going to want more than I think he is worth. Dt we need cheap depth as we already have too much invested there but need a solid space eater to replace Star who is over paid for his snap count. We also need a rb 2 9 This is personal opinion Moss just isn;t cutting it), a wr 3 /speed wr (unless they feel Stevenson can step up), need depth across the oline (I bet we cut loose one or two guys like Ford(due to talent) and Williams( if he doesn't restructure I bet we cut him loose since he is being paid too much for a guard spot. Among other things like a new punter, cheaper special teams guys. Why are we paying so much for special teams specialists again? Maybe a lb who we can develop behind to potentially replace Edmunds next year (I like him but not at 12 million a year or more.. if we can't work out a fair contract I doubt we tag him. I feel if he hits free agency he will be over paid much like he is on his current contract. We could also use a te 2.

 

I want to take the old school Patriots route of drafting depth. Trade back get a ton of different guys that fit our need profile or have high RAZ/ traits but are raw that need coached up. Take shots and see if they can be coached up to replace some of our heavy contracts or ones coming up.. Yeah guys won't hit all the time but more shots mean more hits.

I'd like them to address the secondary as well as LB and after that of course, OLine. I also think we should make trade for player that can help us because we have a lot of draft picks. We can trade to move up or for an already established player.

Its an incredibly deep draft due to the COVID extra year for college players. Plus with the possibility of veteran players outgoing both in FA and due to cuts, I actually think we should be thinking about supplementing the roster with cheap players. I'm in favor of trading up for the right guy but to be honest at some point were gonna have to get cheap labor.

Trade 1+ for a starting caliber CB.

 

Levi is probably gone. Tre is out for a while. Dane is ok at 1 starting position, but Taron is not an outside guy. Need a #1 CB more than anything else. Will a playoff caliber starting boundary CB be available at the Bills pick? White was, does OBD roll the dice again?

 

FA CB will cost too much (otherwise would resign Levi Wallace). When Tre White is back, then Dane Jackson goes back to being a very experienced 3rd CB on the boundary and you have an improvement on last year's team. Player x from the trade and White, with Jackson being  backup. Taron Johnson still a stud at nickel.

 

The 3 1st and 2nd round picks at DE need to produce.  Period.

 

IOL second round. Could have had Creed Humphrey here last year. Another IOL, of similar capability at OG or C should be there in the 2nd round.

 

After that BPA. WR/TE/LB/DE/DT/P all needs. A S falling to the 3rd round would be good too.
