But at the same point I think we should look hard at the PS of every team in the league with a good to great OL. Because it seems more and more obvious that Ford isn’t who we thought he was. Dawkins and Williams aren’t who they were last season.

Dawkins at least has a plausible excuse with the really rough time he had with COVID. Williams has just looked bad, and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for it. He doesn't even look like he's mentally ready for the game.

Yet, they field ***** in front of him. Coaching staff gets a little cute with roster decisions sometimes for my liking. Blank Stare
Serious question - When does Beane go for it? All in on a particular season? I thought seeing our weaknesses, he would’ve made a move at the deadline. Like the Rams with Von Miller. Window wide open in a watered down AFC and we stand pat with glaringly obvious flaws. “Be patient”. “Build through the draft”. Great, let’s build through the draft. Hows about hitting on a few of these second round picks? I’d rather trade a 2 or a 3 for a proven commodity if we are just going to draft Cody Ford over far superior players or keep guys like Epenesa and Boogie Basham inactive each week. Especially, after we could’ve drafted oline with that Basham pick. Sometimes I just want to see Beane push some chips into the middle of the table and make a bold move. You already hit on the most important position in Josh. I’m not suggesting he get reckless, but you can take a shot/risk.

Probably a big reason why you saw hardly any OL trades at the deadline.

To be fair - very few teams have been as willing to part with draft picks as LAR. So far the picks they surrendered to bring in players like Dante Fowler, Jalen Ramsey etc have not really panned out.

Rams probably aren’t the best example considering they are so unorthodox. Few teams are as aggressive as they are trading picks. However, I think a lot of teams overvalue mid round picks (including the Bills) and a shrewd team can take advantage of that by lifting proven talent for lottery tickets. Right now you cannot convince me Doyle or Bates are worse options than Ford. If they are then why have we hung onto Bates this long? Why even take Doyle if he's worse than Ford? My biggest knock on Daboll is that it doesn't always seems like he puts his players in the best position to do well. He gets locked into what he wants to do and it hurts the team. If he doesn't have the answers and Bobby Johnson doesn't have the answers to find the best 5 we have and get them on the field in a blocking assignment that they can AT LEAST look somewhat competitive with then we need to find people that do. Bates is the backup or backup backup (C) for every position on the o-line. Yes, he might be better or as good as some other backup at a specific position. BUT BUT you HAVE TO back up all 5 positions (left and right) and Bates is that "finial bullet" for all of them if somebody goes down during a game. You would need 2 roster spots to replace him. That is why he sits. Edited November 8, 2021 by maryland-bills-fan

With this perhaps we will see Josh Allen's backup or Josh Allen's backup backup during a game (Hyde is the in game backup backup) when Josh Allen gets smeared across the yard due to piss poor blocking. But yes, keep Bates wrapped in bubble wrap just incase we lose 2-3 other guys.

Bates is playing guard and sprains his ankle. You are one head-slap from having McKensie or Ferguson or Obada snapping the ball. Get a clue. However I can tell you this (from decades of actually owning a successful buisness)...if you manage to the worst case scenario you quite often find yourself in and even worse predicament.
