The American Media Should Not Be Trusted

No.  Buffalo doesn't have near the market to compete with the top markets.  All that Terry is expected to do is get a new stadium and that will push the Bills out of the bottom-5, at least.

So, you agree, Terry is under pressure to maximize his revenue potential.

The American media is the worst source on the planet.

Barring all the others, that is.

Oh, except Facebook sources. They're gold. Believe everything they say.

Due to the British laws on slander being a much lower bar than America the British media is much more likely to be accurate. Most American media is on par with the British tabloids as far as accuracy. The difference is the tabloids embrace their bias and embellishments while almost all American media pretend they only do facts.

Within the constraints of the market, sure.  But if it means spending an extra $1B to have a downtown stadium, the NFL won't pressure him to put one there.  If Buffalo/NYS pays the additional, it will happen.

This article is laid out in a very dishonest manner. GOP is not calling out all schools and as pointed out the spread from GOP parents to all others is from 55 to 60% are happy. That would mean you are a little more likely to disappoint as a GOP person than any others. The facts definitely do not support the narrative

When you are the second smallest market in the NFL - you have to do everything you can to maximize revenue.

Terry doesn’t make ***** your tailgate… but getting this stadium in the city - around amenities that make it appealing for c-suite types up in Southern Ontario to spend big bucks on suites - you do it.

The money fans would spend in the stadium is really a drop in the bucket vs the real revenuestreams.   Frankly, I think the NFL benefits more on the reputation of crazy Bills fans than they would from selling a couple more luxury boxes.  But I appreciate that you want what's best for the city, and while it's not what I want personally, its a legitimate stance on the issue.

What I realized is so horrible with this WP take is that we should warn girls about doing activities like this because terrible people will take advantage of them. The problem is still the terrible violent person, not the girl who is not wise enough to realize what an awful person he was.

The MSM trying to lie about what happened?  No way!

Lying only works when people believe you're telling the truth.  The MSM's message is intended for the liberal base.  Not for an audience like you and I that know they're full of crap.  Their core audience has so much politically and emotionally invested in the narratives they push that its impossible for either the viewer or the media to admit they're invested in a series of lies and deceptions.

What these self-absorbed liars can't comprehend is at this point they come off as comical.  Who needs to stay up late for a good laugh from Saturday Night Live or some late show comic when you can just watch the Evening Network News and laugh yourself into a coma.  Like, the border is secure!  Hysterically funny.  And Brandon is the greatest President ever.  And the Moon is made of cheese!

Kyle Rittenhouse and Ahmaud Arbery: a tale of two trials

rittenhousearbery-730x475.jpg

Two consequential trials are currently underway in America. Both in some way relate to the events of last year surrounding police and their purportedly racist motives. One is driving most of the media coverage online and one has been all but ignored.

So why is the national media almost singularly focused on fabricating racial components in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, and not at all in the trial of Gregory McMichael and his two accomplices, who stand accused of the killing of Ahmaud Arbery, a black man who was gunned down while jogging last February?

We are being fed the fantasy that Rittenhouse was a dangerous, mass-shooting, pro-Trump militia member, out for blood on the night of the Kenosha riots in Wisconsin. We are also being told, without evidence, that he is a white supremacist. This claim has been repeated on MSNBC, and even by members of Congress, such as Ayanna Pressley who tweeted, “A 17 year old white supremacist domestic terrorist drove across state lines, armed with an AR 15. He shot and killed 2 people who had assembled to affirm the value, dignity, and worth of Black lives.” Pressley neglects to mention the race of the Antifa activists shot by Rittenhouse: they’re all white.

{snip}

Across the country in Glynn County, Georgia, however, three white men are standing trial in the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. Arbery was chased while jogging and gunned down in the middle of the street by three men in a truck, who claimed they thought he was a burglar fleeing the scene of a crime. Once again, based on video at the scene, and a history of McMichael’s own racially charged statements, there appears to be more evidence that Arbery’s targeting and subsequent killing was racially motivated. Yet the coverage in the media has been mostly muted, save for trial updates and recaps.

So why is the national press attempting to draw race into a trial where race played no part in the fates of Rittenhouse or his victims, yet simultaneously all but ignoring the implications out of Georgia that very well might see justice for a young African American shot dead in the street?

Could their framing be part of an attempt to force the political right to defend Rittenhouse and in doing so reveal the “structural racism” of the country as it exists on that side of the political aisle?

In the end, to our media, justice for Arbery does not matter, because his death is not a blunt instrument with which they can bludgeon their political adversaries.

As Stephen Miller tweeted on Monday, “If Daily Caller & Examiner videographers weren’t on scene to capture footage of the [Rittenhouse] shootings just imagine what the media would be doing. Now ask why those guys aren’t invited on network media shows.”

I'm LOL at the characterization of the 2 ex-cons that Rittenhouse shot dead as being there that night to "affirm the value, dignity, and worth of Black lives."  That's as big of a stretch as calling Rittenhouse a "white supremacist."

I agree.

The way that the article lays out the mainstream media's huge difference in how those trials are covered due to their bias is really something.

It's almost like...........they can't be trusted.

WILLIAM A. JACOBSON: The media framed Kyle Rittenhouse — and won’t come clean even after the prosecution’s case falls apart.

Media malpractice has come full circle in Kenosha, Wis.

Kyle Rittenhouse’s trial for the shooting deaths of two people and the wounding of another is nearing its end, with the jury expected to get the case soon. The shootings took place as riots, arson and looting shook Kenosha after police shot Jacob Blake on August 23, 2020. The violence fed off the nationwide riots and looting that followed the May death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.

From the start, the media misrepresented the Blake case and ensuing riots. They portrayed Blake as an unarmed man who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, subjected to police brutality due to racism.

The truth was far different.

After an intensive investigation, prosecutors declared Blake’s shooting a justifiable use of force. The federal Justice Department reached the same conclusion.

Contrary to media portraits, Blake was armed with a knife and was shot when he turned in a slashing motion at a policeman within arm’s reach.

While it wouldn’t be fair to say the media coverage caused the Kenosha riots, the press downplayed the mayhem and ramped up the hysteria. As with the Black Lives Matter riots in Minneapolis and beyond, the mainstream media incessantly focused away from the violence, despite almost 20 related deaths and more than $1 billion in damage.

Perhaps the most notorious example is CNN reporter Omar Jimenez standing in front of burning buildings in Kenosha with the on-air chyron reading, “Fiery but mostly peaceful protests after police shooting.” The phrase “mostly peaceful” is now a popular internet meme used to mock distorted mainstream media coverage.

It’s happening again with the Rittenhouse case, which was born in the Kenosha riots. From the media coverage leading up to the trial, one would think Rittenhouse was a white supremacist militia member who traveled to Kenosha to shoot up peaceful protesters.

But as has been widely documented, the case is going poorly for the prosecution. While I’m not predicting an outcome, having followed the case carefully, I can say that Rittenhouse has a strong case for self-defense.

I’ve been uncomfortable with the “enemy of the people” phrasing.  Collectively, on a national scale, the media certainly is the enemy of objective reporting.

When they intentionally misrepresent the events and stoke racial tensions, for profit much less, they're the enemy of the people.
