Don’t forget the massacre in Wilmington. NC. It was the only coup in American history.

For what grade level? What is “in there?”

You can quite easily go to these states Dept of Education curriculum’s for social studies and see what they require. Florida quite clearly includes the civil war and civil rights in their requirements.

Even Mississippi, because of course, you’re DEAD WRONG, demonstrates that they teach all of the Civil Rights as well as US History from Discovery to Reconstruction in the 7th grade.

Republicans don’t want our history being taught because it exposes what they have trying to preserve all along, which is white supremacy.

One only has to take a quick look at the recent voter suppression laws to understand that.

Over the last few days, people have been posting the actual textbook material online. When you take a look at the material, you see that slavery is covered on 1 page and the narrative is that white women slave owners were oppressed. It doesn’t go into slavery at all.

Do you feel that satisfies the requirements?

I already told you. It’s the 2 approved history books from Mississippi and I believe it was 6th AND 7th grade.

Don’t take my word for it. Go take a look for yourself.

Nope no pretze here. We have been VERY clear regarding our concerns. It’s not being taught to make sure we don’t make the same mistakes.  It’s being taught to shame a group for the actions of their “ancestors”.

Do you agree with reparations?

And you have failed to provide anything but propaganda to support your claim.

I'm torn on reparations. That should have been addressed 160 years ago.

I feel that if you can show a direct link through your family, then you should be taken care of. A lot of northerners, and Americans in general, don’t realize that rural areas in the Carolina’s are full of black farmers. Most of their land was stolen from them. Those people should be paid out.

My high school in New York didn’t say “racism killed everyone involved in the Civil War.”

They didn’t even say that racism was the only reason the Civil War occurred.

History has never boiled down to “good vs evil.” The world is more complicated than that.

But you all know this. This fake narrative of “they are pretending slavery never happened” only started happening when there was push back against CRT nonsense. Incredible timing how the state of US history education didn’t become a major talking point until a week ago. Almost like there is an ulterior motive. Shocking.

Do you agree that racism was a major cause of the Civil War? Lincoln was called a Black Republican for a reason

Wow- another example of Democrats’ blatant history of white supremacy, racism and attempted genocide. Shameful. The party of mob rule and supremacism…

I’m not sure why the other side doesn’t do a better job of pointing this obvious historical pattern out to flip the script on the attempted race war.

Simple minds cannot grasp this reality. All conflicts are about money and power and then spun into some cause to manipulate the masses.

If people want un sugar coated history, Slavery ownership directly impacted voting and economic power of the south vs the north And every time a new territory or state came into play, it was a tug of war over the potential power flip in majority. I wish it could be said the north opposed slavery because it was vile.

In refreshing myself on all the compromises etc leading up to the succession, the realization I just stumbled upon was slavery was actually started by the European colonizers. So we can stop blaming ourselves now and blame Europe?

Quote

Before the violence, this port city on the Cape Fear River was remarkably integrated. Three out of the ten aldermen were African Americans, and Black people worked as policemen, firemen, and magistrates.

Democrats, the party of the Confederacy, vowed to end this “***** domination” in the 1898 state legislative elections. Their strategy was to enlist men who could write (white journalists and cartoonists), men who could speak (white supremacists who whipped up emotions at rallies), and men who could ride (the Ku Klux Klan-like “Red Shirts” who were basically armed ruffians on horseback).

also I have my own ideology. I disagree with conservatives on most social issues, but right now the republicans are dead, as you say and the democrats have all the control and are making a total mess of things unchecked.

MORE:

CRT FOR DUMMIES

Christopher Rufo has led the reporting on Critical Race Theory — i.e., the indoctrination thereof in our institutions. The Spring issue of the Manhattan Institute’s City Journal, for example, carries Rufo’s essay on “The child soldiers of Portland.” Most recently, City Journal posted “The Woke-Industrial Complex,” his report on Lockheed Martin. For more, see his City Journal publications listed here.

https://www.city-journal.org/critical-race-theory-portland-public-schools

https://www.city-journal.org/lockheed-martins-woke-industrial-complex

https://www.city-journal.org/contributor/christopher-f-rufo_1334

Yesterday Rufo posted the introductory video below on YouTube. He writes:

The debate about critical race theory is coming to a peak this week, with coverage in all major media outlets—and a fierce disinformation campaign from its supporters, who claim that opponents “don’t understand CRT,” that it’s “not being taught in schools,” and that state legislation seeks to “ban the teaching of history.”

I made this film to set the record straight, walking viewers through the origins of critical race theory, what it’s done to our public institutions, and how you can fight back in your community.

To borrow the cliché, you may not care about CRT, but CRT cares about you.

If you want to skip the Marxism history section, start at 3:30 for the CRT part.

I haven’t seen anything about feelings.

People are seeing that slavery is totally skipped over in kid’s history books altogether. It’s pretty blatant. You may not like CRT but there has to be a compromise because red states aren’t teaching about slavery at all.

Can you provide proof for this assertion please?

I guess it's only "Today's lens" that those Confederates who murdered American soldiers (because they were black)  at Fort Pillow were racists?

Racism is a pretty central theme in American history, unfortunately

Oh, so the Southern Conservative Democrats of the past are the same as the Liberal Democrats of today just because "Democrats."

That one of the biggest lies ever told to the American people was that the Democrats are the party of minorities specifically Blacks because they supported federal Civil Rights legislation in the 60s (or did they?) - dirty little secret - more Republicans then Democrats did.

83% of Republicans voted for it.

65% of Democrats did.

There were Southern states that did not elect GOP majorities to State Legislatures for decades after 1964---NC and ALABAMA didn't until 2010.  It always takes 50 or 60 years to realize you disagreed with your party's positions especially one as big as the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

You are correct that conservative democrats are virtually non existent.

This does not mean Republicans in the North or South are suddenly more racist.

Again, biggest lie ever told in the U.S.  That the GOP is just a bunch of racists.  It's unfortunate that every time that line is uttered its when limited government anti socialist Americans oppose yet another big government hand out or policy designed to make Blacks and Whites more dependent on it.

Propaganda?  Concern regarding how the thousands of schools will use a theory to push an agenda is far from propaganda.  So many people don't even know what CRT is, the history of the theory let alone how to use it.  The fact that you keep referring to teaching the history of race relations in this country shows you, a ardent supporter of CRT, don't even know what you're supporting.   I learned about racism many many years ago and it wasn't in the school system.  It was at the dinner table.

So you have no opinion at all regarding reparations?  Maybe start with your pros and cons of the idea?

It’s shameful the stain the Democrats have burdened our entire society with and all the death and destruction you’ve brought upon the nation’s history.  All of us that immigrated later are suffering all the civil discord because of your party.

I think all registered you democrats should pay reparations to everyone else (republicans, Independents, libertarians, unregistered, etc) for your history of slave holding, opposition to civil rights, massacres, causing the civil war, founding kkk, establishing Jim Crow and perpetrating most of the deplorable acts throughout our young history that’s causing so much pain still today.
