It's a special teamer spot, which could be filled with any type of position. Yes, he is taking an RB spot. I know that is not his primary position for this team, but it is a spot that he takes on the active roster. I respect McDermott's emphasis for having a strong Special Teams unit, yet I don't think that re-signing Jones is necessary. Let's stick with the players we currently have on the roster. Tyler Matakevich, Daryl Johnson, Siran Neal & Jaquon Johnson are all very good special teams players, let's stick with what we have, and use our money for a different position. Neal lines up at the same position, gunner, for which a team typically needs 2 guys at any one time. I'm sure you understand all that, yet you list these guys as if they're interchangeable. You don't have a fixed number of roster spots per position. So he could be a WR, LB or CB and it wouldn't make any difference. They arent planning for him for his position on offense or defense. He is serving as a special teamer. He should be alongside Bass, Ferguson and Haack as a specialist.
