Biden's vaccine mandate for federal workers blocked by appeals court

by Paul Best

President Biden's mandate that about 3.5 million federal employees get vaccinated against COVID-19 was blocked by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday. The president originally issued the executive order in September 2021, requiring workers to be vaccinated unless they have a medical or religious exemption. U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Brown issued an injunction blocking the mandate in January 2022, but a three-judge panel on the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated the mandate last April.

On Thursday, 10 of the 5th Circuit's 16 judges reversed that decision, ruling that there is no constitutional basis for requiring federal employees to be vaccinated.

My work just reported out that they have completed the goal of removing the sex and race-based pay gaps. I would love to know how they did it and how they can prove it. as this company has a very wide range or rolls.

I find your employers statement interesting as through deductive reasoning Isn't announcing "removing the sex and race-based pay gaps" an admission that they've eliminated previous discrimination practices which employers have generally denied existed?  As they all attest to following EEO every year.

I think by far and away the biggest discrimination is against older workers.  While they have more experience they also generally have families and dependents that consume a lot more health care services than younger unmarried workers that as a group are the healthiest demographic.  In conversation with a professional resume writer, I was told that listing any job experience or dates prior to the year 2000 would result in your resume being eliminated from consideration by companies using parsing software to screen applicants resumes.  This I was told is about 95% of HR departments.

Agree totally on the first part and that's the common theme going around the water cooler since it was published.   Did they exist secretly?  and seems similar programs would have to be created to Fix said problems.

Even CNN Is Admitting Joe Biden's Numbers Are in Big Trouble Now

Joe Biden has been a horrible president.

Even now, with the Afghanistan report just dropping, and his administration coming under fire for all their failures, where is he? Out the door again, off early on a Thursday, so he can go to Camp David on yet another vacation for the Easter weekend.

We’re still some time away from 2024. But Biden can’t hide from the facts that even many Democrats don’t want him to run again.

Now, CNN has just dropped a new poll that even they think may spell doom for Biden.

CNN POLL: Less than one third of Americans say Biden deserves to be reelected.

“The numbers are beyond sobering for President Biden.” John King acknowledged. The poll shows that most people “have deep doubts” about Biden’s performance, and about the direction of the country right now. He noted it was still a long way to the election, but admitted, “They are still quite telling” about the mood of the people, “and the challenges facing the 80-year-old incumbent.”

Broken Promises and Neglect: Why Black Voters Are Losing Faith in Biden

President Joe Biden’s most loyal voting bloc might not be quite as loyal when 2024 rolls around. Black voters, who were instrumental in helping Biden win the Democratic primaries during the 2020 campaign, have soured on the president after his over two years in office according to a recent survey. It appears his adventures with Corn Pop have finally caught up to him.

A recent poll conducted by ABC News and the Washington Post has revealed a significant decline in support for Biden among black Americans. The survey indicated that only 52% of black respondents approved of Biden’s performance as president, a sharp decline from the 82 percent approval rating he enjoyed when he took office in 2021.

This 30-point drop in support represents the lowest point of Biden’s presidency and comes as he prepares for his reelection campaign. The survey also highlighted an increase in support for former President Donald Trump among black Americans, with 27 percent of respondents indicating a likelihood of voting for him or leaning toward him, more than double the support he received in the 2020 election.

In addition to waning support from black Americans, President Biden’s approval ratings among Hispanics have also experienced a decline. Only 40 percent of Hispanics expressed approval of Biden’s performance, and 43 percent stated they would probably or definitely support Trump in a rematch or lean toward him

Fed researchers: $15 minimum wage in Minneapolis and St. Paul boosted pay — but cost jobs.

The push to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour in both Minneapolis and St. Paul has successfully boosted the average worker’s hourly pay in both cities, but it has also led to sharp drops in the numbers of available jobs and hours worked, new research from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis has found.

Many economists have reached similar conclusions about minimum wage increases in the past. Still, the size of the impacts the researchers measured — by comparing Minneapolis and St. Paul to data culled from other Minnesota cities from 2017 through 2021 — were eye-popping, especially in low-wage industries.

Especially?

Really?

Minimum wage laws have always put the squeeze on the entry-level positions teens need to get their first taste of the real world.

Just adjust minimum wage each year with standard inflation…basically 3%. Problem solved!
