It would have been my Brees moment if I said I disagree with Jewish people not standing for the German anthem that my German ancestors fought for.  ?

Or it could be your Drew Brees moment for commenting on something without having full context perhaps.  I'm not bashing you, I'm just saying we all make mistakes and say things without thinking fully through it sometimes.  No one here is immune from that.

I’m really done after this because this is going in circles.  So Donald Trump, who’s life is insulting people and their appearance, shouldn’t be a target himself?  Again if you are someone who constantly throws stones, stones are going to come back at you.  No one is making fun of Cole Beasley for being short.  He’s what little Ben dreams of being.

Since you asked, how about we criticize the act and not the person? Or at least criticize the trait that we are insulted by? You lose a lot of credibility when you throw “plus he’s a midget dwarf [with an unattractive wife]” on top of it (let alone leading with it and making sure to Trumpishly include it in every comment).

The point is simple: if you’re a person that claims to be against discrimination on the basis of appearance traits that can’t be changed, maybe it’s worth being an example as opposed to doing that very same thing yourself.

I’ve made my point and I’ll leave it there.

Dude, I never said his wife was unattractive (not my type but I never said unattractive)!!! You are.  I stated she wasn’t hot!!!  Sorry to break it to you, but not every woman is hot.  If your wife is hot to you, that’s all that matters.

and I’m a very nice dude but I also live by the rule talk ?, get hit.  Don’t dish if you can’t take it.  If you’re a good person, I would never attack you.  But if you are someone who constantly belittles people and tries to think you are better then others, you’re going to get your flaws called out.  Ben can be extremely “intelligent” yet need a booster seat at the dinner table.

You get a sad face because Randy Newman sucks

He may suck, but given the state of things currently, his words in that song are more important than ever.

We are marching on City Hall for Chris Morgan tomorrow at noon! For far too long we men have allowed our shorter brothers to be the victims of cruel jokes, pranks, and denigration.  It is time that we stand with our height challenged fellow men and come together as one gender to combat discrimination and inequality in our society.  Institutionalized heightism comes in many forms.  Its girls calling short men their "little brother", its ride restrictions at Six Flags, its basketball, pants manufacturers.  Tall privilege is real.  Many of us simply do not know what its like to have to get a step ladder to reach the tops of shelves or to stare at asses and backs during concerts.  We need to listen to our shorter brothers and hear their experiences if we are ever going to learn.

So at what point does it not be ok to fail to intervene?  Before he passes out saying I can't breath?  1 minute after passing out? 2 minutes?  After he is pulseless?

That the other three failed to intervene is more of a problem than kneeling on his neck. That is the problem.  Without video those three cops would have signed off on the lies in the police report and no one would have known the wiser.  And they would have been rewarded by their fellow cops for not saying anything.

Where did I say it was okay that they didn't intervene? I actually said the opposite..

I once believed it was up to good police officers to make a difference. But now I believe the only answer is video.  Every police officer must wear a body camera with no ability to turn it on/off.  Make every arrest video public.  With no video, any arrest should be tossed out.  We have all seen multiple events where the official police report does not match the facts including today's revelation of the report stating No Injuries to Breonna Taylor who was shot eight times.  No video, no conviction.  Simple as that.  That is the only way to rebuild the trust.

My department requires we wear body cameras and it's our policy that we record every interaction. The batteries in them may not last all day though especially if they are always on and being used a lot.

I'm not a defense attorney but I'm pretty sure they would have a big issue with the arrests of their clients being broadcast to the public.

I'm just assuming you're not a cop and never had to wear a body camera. It's not uncommon that they get knocked off when someone fights with you. What happens then if the altercation is not clearly recorded? Do we just throw the case out? Do you understand how dangerous of a precedent you'd be setting?

Personally, I don't have a problem wearing a body camera and I've had a lot of times where people stop acting a fool when they realize I'm recording.

You want to rebuild the trust then work with police and try and find common ground. I don't see how vilifying every cop and treating us like crap is going to fix things.

Bro, that is beneath you, seriously.

People are that sensitive about height??? Man, of all things said on this board, I didn’t expect height would trigger people.  Especially about a guy who loves calling people fascists

You know what.  Even though I am not a little person, I far too long have looked down on them.  So while I am not one, I will attend this march to learn of the pain that my little brothers and have sisters have been through.  Instead of putting them down, I will be picking them up (so they can see over the taller people).  I’m sorry and thank you for organizing this.  We are all the same size in the Lord’s eyes.

It's the principle involved. If you can't be mad about the forms of discrimination that don't affect you, it's not a great look when you argue about the ones that do.

I really wouldn't pick this hill to die on. I say this as someone who tends to agree with you on a number of topics.

Good post.  Like everything, a few bad apples ruin things for the whole (think about being Muslim).  Cops have an insanely difficult job.  I don’t envy them.  At the same time, since it’s such a tough job, you need the best of the best.  And not the dude who is angry he peaked in high school.  But I sincerely feel bad for the good cops lumped in with the scumbags.

I guess I see your point.  I’m just saying you’ll never see me hate on Beasley or Singletary because their whole career isnt belittling others.

There's nothing a good cop hates more than a bad cop. The overwhelming majority legitimately care and are only trying to do a good job.

I'm also in favor of more and better training but you can't accomplish that if the goal is to defund or abolish police.

I understand where you're coming from in principle. I'm not the biggest fan of Shapiro myself but it's about being better than those people. When you resort to attacking the personal traits instead of the opinion, they win.

It took someone else saying literally the exact same thing for you to see the point?

To be better than one is to be worse than all.

Actually no, I really don’t see the point.  Like I said, if your whole shtick isn’t putting others down and propping yourself up, I would never attack you.  But if it is, you deserve what you get back.  It’s like the media who loves to criticize others and then immediately cry the second someone comes back at them.  Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it.

I’d argue that calling someone a fascist without any semblance of proof besides the way a guy looked when he gave a speech (Look it up) is a lot worse than calling a 5’4” guy little.

But isn’t that kinda the point of all this protests??? Kaepernick quietly took a knee, he was called every name in the book, and lost his job.  Obama was hated for more than just policies and constantly put down by Trump (whose old Obama tweets now are absolutely hilarious because of the double standards).  He always took the high ground.  Eventually after turning enough cheeks, you might need to fight back.

Rioting and looting is stupid.  But guess what?  A lot more people are paying attention and more things are happening than they were 4 years ago.
