Get this guy a big body out there and a right tackle, a complimentary back to singletary and then let’s see what we have. This isn’t a finished product and we’ve still seen growth in the kid. Rob's House Posted January 5, 2020 Share Posted January 5, 2020 Bring on the Moe's and Hoes... I didn't vote because there wasn't an option for maybe. He's shown enough that I wouldn't be looking for his replacement, but there are still some question marks. He's got some truly elite skills. He's a hard worker who's dedicated to the team. He's a gamer who lays it all on the line. He made a big leap from year 1 to year 2. But he still has to improve to be a guy who can win with some consistency against good teams. It's all about his growth. Where will it stop? No one knows. (Like I said before bring on the Moes and hoes). I think by this time next year we'll have our answer. It's hard to imagine how a QB like Tyrod Taylor would not have led the team to the same record, give or take a game. Well, my comment before was admittedly snarky -- I prefer QBs that don't fall behind in the first place. But since you asked for logic, I'll rephrase it in a logical/non-snarky way: the Bills had to come from behind because their offense simply didn't score enough to put them in the lead in many games. They scored 30 or more points twice this year ... and both times against the Dolphins. You aren't going to have many leads when you're not scoring. I did see a lot of things to like about Allen, particularly when he played looser and more instinctively in those comeback wins. Absolutely Allen should get another year as the undisputed starting QB. He could go all Trubisky on us - clear improvement in Year 2 followed by sliding backwards in Year 3. Or Mariota. Or maybe he could take another step forward. I just don't know which way it will go, but in my mind he has one year to do it ... at that point we're talking about whether we exercise that 5th year option on him for big money or whether we go looking for an upgrade, even if it is someone like what the Titans did with Tannehill this year. I would definitely look to bring in someone better than Barkley as a backup next year to push Allen a bit and to have an option in case of injury or ineffectiveness. I think hes definitely trending in the direction of being our franchise QB, and I’m more hopeful about Allen than any QB the Bills have had in a long time. But I think it’s too soon to say definitively that he’s a franchise QB. Right now, he’s probably more in line with “average starter”. That mid tier of QBs, but I think his ceiling is sky high and he has the work ethic and smarts to get there. But only time will tell. I’m very hopeful that he will take another step forward next season, but I’ve been a Bills fan for a long time so I’m cautious about being too optimistic. Well we disagree that Taylor would have been as good this year. Allen progressed a lot this year and I see no reason why he won’t continue to improve next year. Allen needed to pull off 4th quarter drives because he put us in that position to begin with. Those drives also came against the bottom feeders of the league that we should have never been behind at any point.
