billsfan89 Posted October 30, 2019 Share Posted October 30, 2019 Honestly activating Taylor and cutting Peko is the only move roster wise the Bills can make that would have some sort of impact. The trade deadline passed and there wasn't a trade to be had and there isn't a vet on the market that can help. I think the odds of Taylor being anything more than a marginal upgrade are slim but at this point Peko is not a starting caliber or even rotation player. Taylor has at least a chance to offer you some improvement at a weaker point of the roster. I also think that Taylor is a bit better than your average PS player. He played well in his time in Miami although both his first two seasons were cut short by injury. We may not like the way Peko has played but I would venture a guess that Taylor hasn't shown enough in practice to jump ahead of Peko. That may change if the team continues to struggle against the run and Taylor gives some indication that he would improve the d-line rotation. As we fret about our run defense, we should also consider the amount of time the Bills spend in their nickel defense. The Eagles hit several nice runs against the Bills when they were in their nickel. I also thought the tackling was pretty terrible on Sunday and it wasn't just one guy. McD has prioritized off-the-field matters when making roster decisions in the past, and the fact is that when they activated Peko, he talked about how gratifying it was to be able to call him up because of what his family had been through. I'm not just throwing stuff against the wall here. There is zero doubt in my mind that the effect on Peko's family immediately comes to mind when McD thinks about going in a different direction, and that means it is affecting the decision-making process. Few if any of us here have seen the kid play, so it's puzzling why we think he'd be the guy The coaches said it's fundamentals and screw ups on that which caused the problems this past Sunday, and that they can address that this week.
