Some of you golfers must have a brain the size of a grain of sand

Study shows complaining about golf could be shrinking your brain

Quote

The study doesn’t mention golf specifically, of course, because it’s focused more on the affects of complaining itself rather than where the complaining takes place.

Wow, that's pretty shameful.

This is one reason why the general public misunderstands science: misleading headlines. For example, Google "olive oil is as good as viagra" and see how many headlines say almost exactly that, which implies that if you take a spoonful of olive oil you'll be sporting wood in 30 minutes. The actual article, however, says, "A study of 660 men with an average age of 67 found that those that adopted a Mediterranean style diet – rich in fruit and vegetables, legumes, fish and nuts, as well as olive oil – had far fewer problems in between the sheets..." In fact, the scientific paper on which the article was based was more specific: "...substituting olive oil for butter..."

But of course, nobody wants to see a headline telling them that a healthy diet is good for you, so a "journalist" (and I use that term generously) comes up with some click-bait headline that implies a quick fix, and a million other "journalists" latch onto it.

My personal favorite is that they pulled it from a manuscript from 1992.  I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a re-print of a page filler story they threw in golf magazine 20+ years ago.  Ok, re-print's not the right word, but whatever you want to call the internet version of that practice.

As I have stated before, I am at the point I yell “oh no!” at the top of my backswing.

one friend would yell out "WHY!! WHY!!" on almost every shot

Studies show that studies are generally nonsense.

Thank you for providing evidence to support my point.

Might be true... we drink beer the entire round.

And your entire group would still be better than me...my friends don't invite me anymore because I'm that bad.My arthritic back really sealed the deal.

I admire Tiger..he couldn't walk because of his back...look at him now..unreal.

nothing is worse than having to listen to somebody talk about their golf game

How about televised golf? It's like watching grass grow, but with people in the way.

That sucks K... its really just about doing the best you can and having a good time away from the rest of the world with your buddies. Scores don't matter in the end.

At my stage..I'm happy to just meet them for a few drinks after they finish.

Good to see you around..hope things are going good for you down in Tampa.

P.S.- I sold my sister's house down there...took me(family) about a year to "turn the page "

Peace
