Seems to me like upthread you held the same views on communists as you did on Islamic people. I also think that generally speaking, Muslims are a scourge on our society, not because most of them are a problem, but there is a large segment of their religion that doesn't respect our laws and would try to enforce their laws and customs on us. I'm not willing to throw out our constitution to get rid of them though. It's pretty simple, wall off our southern border and force people to come through ports of entry. Make sure those that we might allow to come here get vetted thoroughly.

STAMFORD — John Mallozzi, the city’s former Democratic Party chief, was arrested Wednesday on charges of absentee ballot fraud in the 2015 municipal election. He allegedly forged ballots for relatives, Spanish-speaking residents and Albanian-Americans new to the election system, according to the State’s Attorney’s Office.

Mallozzi was charged with 14 counts each of filing false statements and second-degree forgery. He turned himself in to Stamford police on the charges, both Class D felonies punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000 per count.

Republicans in Arizona were suspicious after elections that seemed won by the GOP on election night slowly shifted to Democrat victories in the days after the election.

 

Now, it appears that an internal election audit commissioned by the Arizona Republican Party, released Thursday, may offer some answers on what happened in the state’s closest election in recent memory.

 

The 228-page memo details several suspect and concerning practices employed by County Recorder Adrian Fontes, a Democrat. Fontes has already earned a reputation for controversy among election integrity advocates in Arizona, for a series of incidents including telling a candidate for the state legislature to “go f— yourself”on Facebook.

 

The audit, announced shortly after the election, was overseen by Stephen Richer, a Phoenix-area attorney with considerable experience in auditing major public and private organizations.

 

The audit references reports accusing Fontes of privately coordinating the location of “emergency voting centers” with Democratic candidate Kyrsten Sinema (who went on to win the state’s U.S Senate election). Allegedly, staffers with the Sinema campaign were well aware of the location of said voting centers before the general public, which are reserved for the use of voters who are unable to cast an early ballot because of a supposed emergency.

Study Finds Voter ID Requirements Don’t Repress Minority Votes

Voter ID requirements do not affect voter turnout, according to a new working paper published by the National Bureau of Economic Research. The researchers looked at 1.3 billion data points on U.S. voters from 2008 to 2013, and they found that “the laws have no negative effect on registration or turnout, overall or for any group defined by race, gender, age, or party affiliation.”

 

For years, opponents of voter ID laws have equated them with disenfranchisement. The American Civil Liberties Union says “voter ID laws deprive many voters of their right to vote” and that they “reduce participation.” Writing for CNN Politics, reporter Eric Bradner addressed voter ID requirements as “discriminatory voting laws.” The Democratic Party’s official website addresses voter ID laws as if they are anathema to democracy.

 

As it turns out, none of their fears about voter ID were backed up by this large study. This is great news: The country can now take obvious steps to protect the integrity of our elections, knowing that enacting voter ID laws will not disenfranchise anyone. In a fact-based political environment, everyone would celebrate this. Instead, don’t expect special interest groups to change their positions based on this new information.

 

The study found no difference in voter turnout for either primary or general elections based on voter ID laws. Whether the law required a photo ID or allowed something like a utility bill to suffice as identification, the outcome remained the same: turnout did not change for any demographic group.

 

This runs counter to what we have been told about voter ID––that such requirements discriminate against minorities and the poor, who are the least likely to have a government-issued photo ID. This presents a policy problem. How do we make sure that every eligible person is able to cast a ballot, while making sure that no one votes more than once or in a district where they do not live? States have already figured out a solution; they make voter ID cards free for those in need, and allow people other ways to verify who they are.

 

Of the eight states that require photo identification at the polls, all of them issue voter ID cards to their citizens free of charge. Of the 10 states that request photo identification, four issue ID cards at no cost. The other six allow voters without photo ID to cast their ballots so long as they verify their identity another way, like with a signature that matches the one on their registration.

 

Public support for voter ID requirements is high, with Rasmussen reporting that 67 percent of likely voters would support a requirement to show identification at the polls. However, this number has been declining steadily since 2010, when support for voter ID reached 82 percent. Arguments against voter ID are working, even if they are incorrect. Public opinion is changing, and it’s not changing based on facts.

North Carolina vote fraud case shows just why Congress should ban ballot-harvesting nationwide by Monica Showalter

Original Article   Leftists think they've got one on the Republicans over the recent judicial ruling over electoral fraud in North Carolina, calling for a new congressional election. Raleigh News & Observer: "After a stunning reversal by Republican Mark Harris, North Carolina election officials Thursday unanimously ordered a new election in the 9th Congressional District, which has gained national attention as the last unresolved House race for the 2018 election.  The state elections board's vote came after four days of testimony about what the board's staff called 'a coordinated, unlawful, and substantially resourced absentee ballot scheme' in Bladen and Robeson counties.  And it came less than an hour after a startling announcement by Harris, who had been fighting to have his apparent victory certified. ... The state board will set dates for a new election in the district with election officials outlining a possible May primary and October general election. Here's the Democratic gloat from the Washington Post: "A federal election will be rerun because of fraud.  Republicans aren't talking about it much." Here's Politico's headline: "Damaged GOP faces tough path in North Carolina election do-over." I've got news for them.  It doesn't.     Speaking as a Republican, why shouldn't there be a new election?  Fraud has been committed, and anyone who has principles about free and fair elections is going to want that result thrown out.  Most Republicans do, so the whole North Carolina spectacle is as disgusting to Republicans as it is to Democrats.  And yes, a redo is likely to lead to a Democratic pickup of North Carolina's 9th District seat, given that Democrats are likely to be even more energized by the scandal than they had been earlier.  If you know that your ballot wasn't counted, you'd be darn sure to go to the polling place on the new election day and turn it in to the ballot box yourself to make sure it is counted.  People's votes should count, so whatever the outcome, fair elections deserve to be the standard and the lesson.   The sorry spectacle does have a silver lining for Republicans.  The incident shows just how dangerous ballot-harvesting is.  Here is what BuzzFeed reports that the state's investigators found: The state board's investigation and testimonies this week showed: Absentee ballots were collected directly from voters — which is against the law — with no witnesses signing or only one of two required witnesses signing.  Unsealed ballots were also collected. Dowless held the ballots at his home or office — including blank or incomplete ballots — before turning them in. He instructed people to falsely sign as witnesses. And to cover his conduct, he made sure the ink matched on the forms, that mailed ballots were sent from a post office near the voter, and that ballots were taken to the post office in small batches. See what ballot-harvesting can lead to?  The whole scandal shows just how bad the practice of ballot-harvesting is, just how subject to abuse it is in the aftermath of the "harvest," and why the practice is ready for a congressional law to ban the practice nationally.  Call it the Remember North Carolina Vote Integrity Act, and pass that ban.    Where such a ban would be felt is primarily in California, where ballot-harvesting is perfectly legal and a lot of us have lost confidence in the integrity of our elections as a result.  Democrats took at least seven seats in the congressional midterms based on these exact same vote-harvesting practices, and you can bet that the Democratic operatives who did the harvesting for that result could just as easily have engaged in the same abuses that were seen in North Carolina.  What's more, because California is now a one-party state as a result of it, there is very little likelihood that the state can reform itself.  It has to be done nationally, because the products of these harvestings are starting to send questionably elected Democrats to Congress.   How bad is it in California because vote-harvesting is now a way of life? CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The President of the Bladen County Improvement Association says he was tipped off that the North Carolina State Board of Elections would be investigating McCrae Dowless and absentee ballot programs in Bladen County during the 2018 election cycle.

In an exclusive interview with WBTV, BCIA President Horace Munn says he received the tip before the 2018 primary. Shortly after getting the tip, he said, he told investigators with the North Carolina State Board of Elections that his organization would not take part in an absentee ballot program that year.

The NCSBE voted last week to hold a new election in the 9th Congressional District, following a four-day hearing into voting irregularities in the district that focused largely on activities carried out by Dowless as part of an absentee ballot operation.

Dowless was hired by Republican candidate Mark Harris to run an absentee ballot program, among other things, in Bladen, Robeson and Cumberland Counties.

When asked, Munn would not reveal who tipped him off, saying he would withhold that information until the criminal investigation into absentee ballot fraud is finished.

After he received the tip, Munn said he also informed members of the Improvement Association that they would forego any absentee ballot programs during the 2018 election.

“I told them we are not doing absentee ballots this year,” Munn said. Munn said he told the members that what they do on their own time is up to them.
