Aren't you a liberal?  You're taking a pretty hard line anti-Democrat position on this.

You might get kicked out of Die Partei if you keep thinking for yourself.  Gatorman might report you.

Naw, he was just adamantly against the Iraqi war and anyone that voted for it.

I think he was referring to the Garland pick that McConnell refused to have a vote on which was unprecedented.  He justified it by citing a hypothetical situation that Biden came up with a while back.  The difference I guess is it was a presidential election year.  Plus, the GOP controlled the House and Senate.  I liked the balance on the Supreme Court the way it was with Kennedy being the swing vote, but it is what it is.  Who's the swing vote now?  Roberts probably.

McConnell was complying with a Senate rule put in place in the  1990s by Joe Biden, the so called "Biden Rule" to prevent George H.W. Bush from putting his pick on the High Court. Hence, we ended up with Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Can you imagine a right to ban abortion? That will now become a major issue in state elections.

Or a national law law to ban abortion? Presidents will have to weigh in on supporting or denouncing it.

Gay rights could go backwards, too.

This will be fun to watch.

Let not your heart be troubled Mr. Troll, the only thing  a turnaround on Roe v. Wade would accomplish is leaving it up to the states to regulate abortion. It would still be legal to kill babies. Far left states like NY and NJ would probably allow abortions all the way to the point where the woman in actually in labor, so I think that fact alone would make conservatives think twice about touching it.

Most abortion loving states have already sealed off the right to abortion no matter what the Court does. New York and Florida are a few. Harpers has a good article a few years ago

states that don’t want it will continue as before

Thanks Troll, but you are wrong. I know how much you pro lifers care about children, so much so that you have the government steal them from their parents and warehouse them. I very much believe your sincerity when you wail for the unborn.

And will Pennsylvania allow abortions? Will Ohio? If that is the issue politicians are forced to run on, I think that will be interesting.

And when Texas bans abortions, how will they punish doctors, women, health providers and those that help? More mass arrests?

And the moring after pill is to be banned? Isn't that an abortion to you far right religious nuts?

He is a 19 year old community college dropout in his parents basement drinking monster eating chips playing online video games jacking off to porn hub working for a Russian troll farm on the side to pay back his parents the tuition he squandered when he dropped out of community college because he got a C- on an exam, which in turn melted his snowflake so now he is on xanax and other meds and his counselor reaffirms his claims to his parents that "...he needs time to recuperate and get his confidence back..."

Honestly, Tiberius isn't anywhere near as stupid as people accuse him of being. He's not here to discuss anything. He's not here to debate anything. He's a troll.

The fact is that he's good at it. He has somewhere around 60-70 percent of the regulars here replying to a litany of ridiculous posts that a lobotomized chicken could recognize as trolling. I see most of what he posts, despite that I've had his shite blocked for more than two years, thanks to everyone and their damned brothers quoting his miserable ass all the time.

Unfortunately, people still engage him. That's what's led to the subsequent dialogues with idiots like peace out, ladexter, hardtruth, etc. They see that people will actually try to engage tiberius, so they know they can jump on the troll wagon and have a little fun themselves. For whatever reason, people respond. I'll never understand why.

If you want to have a discussion with people who actually lean to the left, talk to Doc Brown. Or GoBills808. Or even Greg - he may be a champion for ridding the government of corruption, but he's NOT a classic conservative, and his values (sorry DR - I don't mean to speak for you. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) are somewhere between liberal and libertarian. My point is that there are legitimate left-leaning voices here to engage without tangling with the troll brigade.

Trump will finally force the Democrats to get their act together or suffer the consequences.

This is why I want bipartisan , statesmen politicians. Going far left then far right and back again is no way to run a country.

Bipartisanship is whore mongering of a different variety.

I already said. It would send this down to the state level where abortion would be the main issue in elections in states where I'm not sure Republicans would like it to be. Then there would be the national attempt to ban it and presidential politics would have a litmus test for that, perhaps even on contraceptives, lol! Good luck with that.

This pick for Conservatives has 'be careful for what you wish for' all over it.

Thanks, yes criminalizing abortion is what these people have demanded for their support in elections, Trump has promised it, even said women should be punished. The cases are moving through the courts as we speak.

Contraception as in the morning after pill, that's considered abortion by the religious right which dominates a huge part of the Rpublican party. That could be tossed as well, and surely will be in Mississippi, Alabama etc, if they get their judge.

So I keep hearing the name Mike Lee tossed around as a possible replacement, what should I know about him? Or any direction where I can read up on him?

During a recent interview, Senator Lee was asked how he felt about his brother (Utah Supreme Court Justice Thomas Lee) being considered for the job as well. The Senator said that he thought it'd be fun putting his brother up for questioning before the committee.
