Klaista2k Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Why would WGR ditch their own app? This doesn't seem to make any sense.

The local affiliates probably have no say in the matter. Old app was buggy as hell for me at times and the new one does let you download for offline listening. All that said, day 1 with strictly the new app and none of the hours have been uploaded yet for the morning show ? 1

I have no clue what the numbers say..but if I was in Buffalo and going to work at 7:15 and had the option of listening live with ads, or listening to first hour on demand with no ads..no brainer to me, I am listening on demand.Get a solid 30 minutes of content as opposed to 17 or so. Still baffles me why they do not insert a few ads at the 20 minute mark or so..but glad they do not!

So they may not be relevant for those of us not in the area. Still wouldn't stop entercom/radio.com to insert more 'national' ads here and there.
26CornerBlitz Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 The WGR stream will no longer be available on the Tune In Radio as of Friday July 6th. Radio.com will be the only source with the WGR app already retired.

JoPar_v2 Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Yeah trying this new app out now after I’d been using tune in for years. Thing sucks.
The Tomcat Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 I am not liking this Radio.com app...it really sucks actually.
26CornerBlitz Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 The radio.com app sometimes cuts off discussion in mid sentence as it goes to commercial break without warning.

Saxum Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 I only use WGR on days I am unable to drive to my Bills bar which is happening a lot more than it used to do. Has anyone posted anything on WGR site on this?
The_Dude Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 I quit listening. The new app is not to my liking. 1
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 How hard would it be to have commercials play when they're supposed to? Unsubscribe.
PromoTheRobot Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 3 hours ago, joesixpack said: How hard would it be to have commercials play when they're supposed to? Unsubscribe. You do understand it's all done by computer. There's no human engineer firing spots on the app. Whatever software there is anticipates when the WGR breaks come up, then plugs in different spots. One HUGE reason they do this is not just covering up local spots. If any commercial with a SAG/AFTRA voice gets streamed WGR (or by any webcaster) they are on the hook for a huge royalty fee. 11 hours ago, dhg said: I am in the same boat as you. Not really digging the new app. One thing both the TuneIn and old WGR apps did is they re-started on-demand audio when you got back in your car. Say I have the morning show on demand streaming in my car. I get out for a few minutes and return. The app would just pick up where it left off. Not so with the amazing Radio.com app. It's a feature I got to depend on.
Peter Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 (edited) I am having a problem with the new app and was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem and may know how to fix it. When I download it initially it works fine. I even signed up with a user name and password. The problem is the next time I try to use the app. I will open it up and there is nothing to click on. Just faint outlines of boxes but no WGR or any other radio station. The only way I can then listen is to delete, download again, and sign in. That is a pain in the butt to do every time and it takes time. Anyone else have this problem? Any way to fix it? Edited July 3, 2018 by Peter
