This was the early years and SW Florida didn’t have many hockey fans. You could sit anywhere you wanted, so we moved around and viewed from all different vantage points. One night, when they listed attendance as a couple thousand, but I doubt it was a hundred, a puck flies out into the almost vacant stands....and hits a lady in the forehead, splitting her open. Blood everywhere! It could have gone almost anywhere safely, but this poor lady.....like losing the lottery. Sure, if the place is packed someone is likely to get hit, but.... Still, having a team of all ABOVE AVERAGE players is appearing better than entertaining crowds with a team of middling and below-average guys, playing along along side 2-5 really above average guys. Looking back, allowing a team to be made up of entirely 1&2 line players, is a sweetheart deal. Especially, considering how crippled expansion teams traditional are.
