Thats exactly what I think.

Giants are drafting a QB.

I don't think so.... Giants havenot had an good OL in a few years...Nelson is their target. Dave G says he believes in building lines with big nasties....

And the Bills history?

Whats your point?

This intrigue reminds me a little of when the Pats and Jets were jockeying for position in the late 90's.     That's fun.......but also cautionary that losing a critical battle over a key person(Belichick) can snowball.

Right on man; this is where the GM men separate themselves from the GM boys.

The path to the QB that they want has swung WIDE open for them, if they're willing to do what it takes

The one they want. If the one they want is one they can get at 12, then it would be dump to trade up.

Saquon Barkley played in 38 college football games. He failed to get to 100 yards rushing in 23 of them. (61%)

When I've watched him I saw a "Barry Sanders" type home run hitter.  He's not going to grind out 3-4 yards and occasionally hit chunks, he gets stopped behind the line A LOT but hits a lot of home runs.

Yea, I think they are still in win now mode. They may select a QB but I don't think it'll be at #2.

Is Beane a franchise GM?   Is he even CAPABLE of leading us to the SB?

If he can't land one of the chosen ones in the draft.......we at least have a new "the bottom line is" debate.

LOL - this is very true. He has been handling the tear down real well up to this point, but it always comes back to the QB...

You cannot take that chance

Cleveland is a lock to go QB at one, ditto for NYJ at 3. Denver is 90% at 5. Do you feel safe that neither NYG or Miami will take your guy, and that none of Arizona, Baltimore, LAC, or Pittsburgh will move ahead of you?

I can't see an OG ever going #2 overall.  I don't care if he comes into the league already wearing a gold jacket and plays for 15 years.    That's too high a spot to draft an interior OL....

You have been hitting them out of the park today

...has anybody seen McBeane's official definition of a "franchise QB" so we can realistically compare HIS definition to the roster of candidates?.....nothing yet in my Funk & Wagnalls....from him or anybody....

I would point out again that Foles,  Keenum and Bortles were starters in the championship games.  Maybe it's an outlier, maybe it's a trend.

I think we need to see how consistently Foles, Keenum or Bortles will continue to be the starting quarterbacks in the big playoff games.

You either go to 2 and get your guy, or you go to 4 and take whoever is left of Darnold/Rosen/Mayfield/Allen

I don’t believe a word any of these guys say.

We will see how it plays out, but imo they are taking QB.

This is why I started the thread wondering why people thought teams were just going to stand by helplessly as the Bills tried to climb over them.

First crisis for Beane as GM.   Intrigue.   Competition between division rivals.  Love it.

Been very easy selling the fan base on controversial moves to this point.......they've all been propped up and qualified with the notion that they are going to lead to the Bills getting their franchise QB in the draft.

But with McD having passed on Watson and Mahomes last year.........Beane is really in a must-score situation wrt drafting a top QB prospect for his HC.

I know there are a few screwballs on here who think otherwise..........there have always been a group that always want to kick the can down the road..........but the time is now.

Luckily the Giants pick is still potentially available.   That was always the big edge the Bills have had.......the Jets are most desperate for a QB and the Giants simply can't trade with their in-stadium rival.

Bills might have to climb to Tampa's pick........then climb again to #2..........but they can do it.

If they take their shot and miss..........it won't be pretty but the fanbase and ownership will be somewhat understanding and if they can withstand that and maintain some level of competitiveness they might get another kick at it in 2020.............but if they pull a Donahoe and get a guy outside of the premium group(top 4 or 5 this year).......and that kid misses and they don't WIN.........no forgiveness!  Someone else gets to draft and develop the 2020 draft QB.

This is the way it should be!   I never wanted #3 in the first place.  Earn it Bills!

Yup, I've said #2 should be the goal all along. It's the only way the Bills will know exactly who they are getting. Go to #3 and they may end up getting jumped by another QB team.
