I'm excited about the pickup, but it's pretty crazy that a guy with 6 tackles gets a $50 million contract.

His job is to command a double team so the linebackers run free to the ball.

He isnt going to get 10M a year

I think he probably will.

He's the same type of player as Damon Harrison who the Giants signed for 5 years, $45 mil last year, and the cap just went up again.

With a $100 million dollar contract, Dareus is supposed to be living in the backfield and not just be a space eater.

Again, you're ignoring the point. That's not what DT's do.

So I guess you answered it, with Dareus we ignore that point, but with Star, if one points out statistics they just don't understand the nuances of the game and position.

The. Agent would have leaked terms by now.

The $100 million dollar DT's make that much because they aren't just space eaters, they create havoc and penetrate.

Did Aaron Donald win NFL Defensive Player of the Year just taking up space?

I'm willing to bet Star didn't get $96 million with $60 million guaranteed like Dareus did.  Why?  Because Dareus wasn't supposed to be just a space eater.

May not get 10, but why sign a 5 year deal if you're getting chump change? He is definitely getting paid more than KW and he got 6.

Maybe maybe not.

Could be 6-7 a year.

He doesnt offer what Kyle does

Maybe, I don't have a crystal ball or anything, I'm just trying to think from his perspective. Why box yourself into a 5 year deal if you're not being compensated well?

I'm pretty sure it'll be over 7, I could see 8, but I think you're right that it's probably not 10.

Because he is older. Playing back with the coach and defense that he had his best seasons with.

His market Value is about 8.5M a year. So I am thinking that is the max

Agreed 110%

Can they acquire such a jewel this season? And what are they willing to sacrifice? Is that time his year?
But yes. The defense McD likes  /believes in is coming. Back to front. and maybe soon to fill middle bits.

I think  draft is where they want to look. Thoughts ?

Could bring back Bradham for a start, Avery Williamson, Demario Davis are fa, not sure what they would cost. Roquan in the draft would be the ideal.

5 million is pretty much the norm for average DTs, the elite ones command around 15. Kyle is on his last leg and he is getting 6. Once again, I'd be very surprised if he doesn't command between 8 and 9. We're signing him to be the centerpiece of our defense.
