I am going around chanting "please pass physical, please pass physical" This is exactly what I suggested to Badlands Meanie and others in other threads that I thought the Bills could/should do: trade up to the low teens so that they're better positioned to make further trade-ups for QB on draft day if they want to, or to use the pick to get a different player they covet

They still have to nail the next trade, the QB pick and find a long term answer at RT for me to be overjoyed at it. Cordy has been one of my favourites since his rookie year, I'm sad to see him go. Hard worker, heart of a warrior, never caused a second of trouble, high calibre individual on and off the field. When healthy he’s an excellent tackle and there aren’t many options out there right now. We got good value but hopefully we find someone to protect this rookie qb. I think it’s a fair trade and I’m by no means upset but there’s some risk that many aren’t acknowledging. Dawkins-incognito is good enough this year but is groy-vlad-???? going to work? Utah John
So who's next? Can we find a team desperate for a tight end, who will take Charles Clay off our hands (and our budget) for a 5th or 6th?
Tatonka68
A healthy Cordy Glenn I would want to stay. An often injured player traded to move up to get a franchise Quarterback, no brainer. Edited March 13, 2018 by Tatonka68
ProcessTheTrust
Could he end up healing up and turning into an all pro? Sure. As long as we get our franchise QB, it won't matter.

(Browns, Denver, Jets are almost certainly in, and Miami might go Mayfield if he's available) That's really bad if we just made that trade to not get any of the top4 Reminder: It would be very rare in a draft, including a draft where 4 QB are drafted in the 1st, to have 4 QB go before pick 12. In 20 years, that's only happened once (1999) 4 QB by pick 12 happened in 2011 (a strange year for a couple of reasons). When it has happened, it has not turned out to have been a Good Thing for the drafting teams, either. I know past performance does not guarantee future results, but college football and physical gifts don't change that much. Every 2nd or 3rd year it seems there's a lot of hype about how great the current year's class is, and every "good" year it seems like there's 1-4 good QB, and usually not drafted 1-2-3-4 when there are. I think this trade is all about positioning, if the QB(s) we like can be obtained by a further trade-up. But if he can't, they will have a plan B and a plan C and this trade will not be wasted. 17 minutes ago, Utah John said: So who's next? QCity
I have never seen this before: You could run a poll on "Does 2+2=4" and there's always going to be a few idiots that vote "No" Uncharted territory here.
P51
Easy yes, good value and gets them 9 steps closer to the primary off season goal. Still some moving up to do, but that just got easier.

Manther
I wanted to keep Cordy. But, I think we got great value and the whole move on many levels worked real well! I like the trade. If we traded Glenn I didn't think we would get good value. I was wrong.

Many rookie players don't pan out. While proven starters are... proven. This makes sense because it was a case of his huge salary becoming expandable since his replacement played well. And now the Bills have ammo to trade for the top picks. Yet sooooo many busts in the first picks I can't believe people still worship draft picks to that extent! You can find the precious gems, but many duds in there too. That's exactly why I'm in the wait-and-see camp. Cordy was an excellent starter who unfortunately became both expendable and injury prone. So I kind of like the move. But if this nets us a bench-warmer, it'll be hard to be happy.
teef
i'm of the group that liked cordy, and really dislikes getting rid of any of the oline, (even with injuries) but i completely understand and am behind the trade. the move up to 12 this year is absolutely huge and well worth the risk. I most sincerely hope that is not in our plans. I don't necessarily disagree with you. I think historical draft guessing about when QBs go isn't good though in this case, as the QB position seems to be more and more important every year, and this year there happens to be quite a bit of teams needing QBs. I think there are legit 4 teams ahead of us who will draft a QB (Cleveland, Denver, Jets) and maybe 4 (Miami) That's just how the draft fell. I think we need to get up to #3 to get a top guy If we talk out of this draft with anybody other than Mayfield, Rosen, Darnold, or Allen (yes Allen, not because I like him, but I'll trust McBeane if they decide he's there guy) then I view all these moves as a failure in the long run. I know we disagree to some extent on this, but I think we need to get up to snag one of those 4.

Beane may not be sure yet who his guy is! But he should have one (at most two) guys he's targeting. Either we walk out of the draft with THAT ONE GUY, or if it's simply not possible (say he's drafted #1 by the Browns, nothing we can do about it), we execute whatever our Plan B may be, and do something else with the pick. And make no mistake, the universe of things we can do with that pick has not changed so much since last year. That is not failure - that's planning the flight, and flying the plan, the recipe for long-term success unlike "DAMMIT! Our plans for drafting Roethlisburger fell through. I know....we'll take Lohman as our consolation prize!" Nuts.
