Not all of those interceptions were his fault, but it was clear that Peterman was not as ready as Buffalo may have thought when they named him starter. He didn’t complete a pass on the five plays he was under pressure, throwing four of his picks on those plays. He just didn’t look confident compared to Tyrod Taylor, who came in for the second half and completed 4-of-7 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown when under pressure. We all know the 8-8 middle of the road, middling draft pick, same old rut argument. That is what your scenario results in. I assumed this was going to be another suck fest year in the preseason. I was ready for it and didn’t take the bait at 5-2. With a larder full of draft picks, we could be watching the beginning of a championship team by this time next year with good drafting.We don’t know how McBean will draft but that is why you hold the draft. They can keep pressure off the QB for more than 2 seconds. Peterman really had no chance, with that blocking and Benjamin going down and Matthews being injured and Dennison calling the offense... he wasn’t nearly ready for it. Maybe now he’s ruined forever. Yes the people who blamed Tyrod for the poor pass protection were exceedingly dumb and wrong, but Peterman has the same excuse going for him. I hope he can bounce back. It's an insult to both of them and yourself as a head coach. Titanic man go down with your ship. I wasn't mad he made a risky move that blew up in his face. I was mad that they pulled the kid like it would make a difference then throw in the guy you just benched in a game that's already over. My recollection was that when he looked bad under pressure in the preseason he really had no protection at all. Just snap the ball and get after him was all. But that O-line was made up of guys certain to be soon pursuing other employment. Even with Bosa and Ingram I thought Peterman would have more help than that. These guys aren't great but they are supposed to be veteran NFL O linemen. But he didn't have better protection than the scrubs afforded him in preseason. I don't think any pocket passer would have fared any better today. Add to that the absence of Benjamin and Matthews and the kid could only fail.
