Humans are naturally racist. This is a big reason for why we're naturally so violent.

So a white baby that grows up in a group of hispanics will already have misconceptions of them? No people are not naturally racist. Experiences are what charge that thought, through media, through personal interaction and social status. People tend to believe what they are told

I'm thinking I might stop following football altogether (and wishing I hadn't paid for Sunday ticket this year). Watching a bunch of entitled, self-righteous millionaires with double digit IQs constantly playing the victim and/or "protesting" things they know very little about isn't my idea of entertainment.

If I want to follow political discourse there are far better sources than the NFL.

Nineteen years ago I met a man named Mark and his wife Lee. Mark is a college professor. I believe Lee is also, or at the very least she is educated and holds a professional position. We'd bumped into each other on an internet forum. They were coming to town because they were adopting a newborn, so we decided to meet. They are white. Their son is black.

Today their son is in college. He is a smart, handsome, athletic young man. He's on the football team. They are so proud of him. He sports an Afro hairstyle, which suits him.

In today's America, this young man is still a target for some people because of the color of his skin, his imposing size or even his hairstyle. I am sure his parents worry about that. Hell, I worry about it, because I have photos of him as a sweet baby and know he's been brought up to be a good person. And, in today's America, this fine young man could end up dead just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or because he looks like someone else, or...just because.

That's today's America. That's not saying America is a bad place. It's saying that this is a festering sore that will never heal until we face up to the issues, acknowledge they exist (even if they don't impact YOU) and commit to resolve them. We are so much better together than at each other's throats.

Well , it's sounds like the young man you described is in College, doing the right things and not really any more likely to " end up dead " for being in the wrong place at the wrong time or just " because" than anyone else. Regardless of what you've been scared into believing. Sometimes it's not a good idea to buy into fear mongering perpetrated by the media to advance an agenda. Sadly statistically he may be more likely to " end up dead" at the hands of someone with the same color skin as his. Black on black murder rates are higher than others. Still not likely, but that reality is a far bigger problem in this country than the one getting an excessive amount of attention nationally as it is still a rare occurrence and usually involves a lot more than just someone being misidentified or having " bad luck" . Someone is always going to be someone else's target, whether in America or anywhere else. If I go walk in certain areas I'm going to be a target. It's reality, but the reality is things aren't really as bad as they are being made out to be. It's still better in the USA than just about anywhere else . Edited by Boatdrinks

Concussions aside, of the NFL stands the test of time, it won't be because of viewers with mindsets like yours. It will be your kids and grandkids. As a business, and a longstanding one, it's important to be ahead of the market.

This may be a "prevelant" view of your generation, but it is. It the prevailing thought of those younger than you. Buckle up, the world is about to throw you for a loop as you age.

Ahead of the market, like Target, ESPN, Starbucks, General Mills, Hollywood... seems like getting ahead of the market on SJW issues leads to massive layoffs, drop in stocks/viewers, and overall terrible business strategy. But let's see how it works out for them Cotton.

Black males make up about 8% of the population in the US, yet commit about 50% of the violent crimes. But even with this in mind, unarmed WHITE males are almost twice as likely to be shot by the Police than unarmed black males. So where exactly is this injustice. It is based on emotions and not facts.

Liberals aren't happy until they reach their "Utopia" full blown communism then everyone is equal. Equally poor.

This is true. Their utopia in Venezuela is a great testament to this. Everyone is equal in their starvation because they all wanted this socialist, all share, ideology.

This isn't an accurate description of Socialism. Some people fare quite well under Socialism. Look at the Kims in North Korea and Maduro's family in Venezuela. If you're part of the inner circle Socialism is a sweet deal

The rest of society are basically peasants.

Any thoughts on how to quantify the problem?

Link to your second point? Is that in absolute numbers terms presumably? If so, it doesn't take into effect the fact that there are 6-7 times more whites than blacks in this country (making blacks 3x more likely than whites to face this). The relevant statistic would take that disparity in population size into account.

You are missing an important part of the equation that everyone seems to want to tiptoe around. It's the black vs. white propensity for getting into trouble.

When blacks make up 50%?of the violent crimes in the US, yet nearly twice as many whites are shot by cops.... I think you may be able to do the math and figure out this whole movement is based on lies.

Along those lines, DOJ stats show that black men are 3x more likely than white men to be injured by police. Interestingly enough, black men are 3x more likely to commit violent crime.

And how many more times likely are they to be killed by another black person than by a cop? A LOT more likely. They should protest the democrats who encouraged single parent families with their welfare politics meant to keep blacks down in the project plantations.
