  1. Always nice to see wypipo deciding whether something's racist.
  2. Tentatively 4 of us - depending on the date.
  3. We're hoping to go in from Seattle. Got a nephew there. So there will be 3 of us. Just waiting for the date.
  4. I think I'll pass on the self-driving cars. It's something else. You can get CBD gummies and darned if I wasn't channel surfing last night and saw some babe hawking HEMP OIL on QVC. The train's left the station, all you fuddy-duddy states. Get with it, and make some money!
  5. Good points about qualifications... Speaking of which, that terrorist who randomly decided to murder 5 strangers at Suntrust Bank in Sebring? Corrections officer (trainee). And, per his former girlfriend, had more than once discussed wanting to shoot people. How the F does this guy get to pass muster to be a corrections officer? (OK, it's Florida...but still... ) And how many like him slip through the screening for PD? I was fire/EMS back in the day, worked great with law enforcement at local/county/state, and there were a couple of guys who weren't wrapped that tight but nothing like some of these people ... they'd have died rather than hurt someone. (below quote from USA Today). "Little is known about Xaver, who state officials confirmed late Wednesday was hired in November 2018 to work at Avon Park Correctional Institution near the Avon Park Air Force Range. Patrick Manderfield, a spokesperson for the agency, reported that Xaver "had no discipline while employed with the department," but resigned on Jan. 9. No explanation was given for the resignation, he said."
  6. When the Bills finally win a Superbowl - yes, it should be a national holiday. Here's hoping we all live to see it.
  7. works for me. what we save on policing and imprisonment will be worth it. when they were talking about legalizing pot here in WA the then-gov said "yup - let's legalize it and tax the hell out of it." Why not? What's also interesting for those who freak over the state running things - WA used to control liquor sales. Everything but beer was purchased in a liquor store run by the state. I had no idea such a thing existed and was a pretty good customer before I found out. Was just like any other liquor store. The taxes went to education mostly. Then Costco and other retailers put millions behind a campaign to move liquor sales to the public sector, which passed. Now I can buy wine and liquor in Rite Aid as well as grocery stores, quickie marts etc. The prices have not improved AND, interestingly, there are now many more issues with illegal sales to minors than when the state ran the business. So people should not always be so quick to assume that the government can't do things right. Some governments can.
  8. If it's not the wall, it'll be something else. We have a system. Houses of Congress craft legislation. If the vote passes in the house that crafts it, it goes to the other house where it either passes and goes to POTUS or it dies. If it goes to POTUS and (s)he refuses to sign it, Congress can either kvetch or try to muster an override. That's how our system was built - in an attempt to maintain a balance of power and keep any single branch or individual from having too much. In this case, the "leader" of the Senate is following orders from POTUS and refusing to allow the Senate to consider bills to open the government, whilst negotiating border security separately. Everyone wants border security. The disagreement is what exactly constitutes effective border security. If you want a wall and think that getting it at any cost is worth it, just consider that they other side is going to be able to do the same thing when they come to power. And they're going to come to power with a vengeance after this, because no-one believes that anyone but the POTUS is responsible for this mess, and most Americans are savvy enough to realize a wall isn't going to protect the country from a manufactured crisis. If you don't mind that people are suffering because a supposed "leader" is having a temper tantrum, that's somewhat telling. And remember next time it could be you caught in the middle. In the meantime, if you know someone caught up in this you might want to be kind and reach out to offer assistance if you can. Seattle is having "resource fairs" here at Sea-Tac airport, one yesterday and another Monday, where people can be connected with various options to keep them going while McConnell hides out under his rock. I hope other cities are doing the same, but if not the offer of a few extra groceries might be appreciated.
  9. I'm with Iron Maiden. We purchase it occasionally, mostly for medical use. First time I went into a store I was completely impressed at the range of products and the knowledge of the people who work there. Tell them what you need it for - everything from pain to just wanna get high - and they can made spot-on recommendations. Yep it's a lot more expensive than the illegal stuff but it's pure and not loaded with stems and seeds. You don't need much. I had a visitor from Rochester here who wanted to see a pot store. Went into one down near the Port Angeles waterfront. I knew the expectation was a smelly, smoky place full of wild-eyes hippies with crazy hair, LOL. I had to laugh at the disappointment. I have friends who grow it and there are new jobs in old mill towns due to it. Other than that I can say that it hasn't disrupted anything here in WA that I've seen. The real fights are coming from pharma and other corporations who want in on the action. No surprise that Constellation Brands has jumped in.
  10. Get thee to a dictionary and look up the conditional word "IF" which is the word I used. IF / THEN. You don't program, do you? I think there are a number of coaches that played football. Maybe not all NFL. You can look that up since it seems important to you that all those black guys playing can't be coaches. If you want to wear ballet shoes that's fine with me. If you want to keep a closed mind, it only hurts you. Not me.
  11. The NFL is about 70% black. If playing football makes one a good coach, then one could reasonably expect over time that the majority of NFL coaches would rise from those ranks. Thus there would be a great many more black coaches than there are today. Now - should an incompetent coach be retained to maintain racial parity? Hell no. But the definition of incompetence should apply EQUALLY to white and black. This doesn't mean to set a standard within the NFL. Every team owner/GM is in a unique situation. And some guys, black or white, shouldn't be HC. But I'm pretty sure the bar is much higher for people of color - because that's the way it is elsewhere, not just the NFL. I don't have the answer. But dismissing this out of hand smacks of white privilege. Walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you presume to tell people how they should feel.
  12. Just going by the headline I'd have to agree. Reagan suffered from dementia - as does Trump.
  13. When's the last time a POTUS had control of both houses of Congress and STILL had 3 government shutdowns in less than 2 years? I could Google it I suppose but I know I'll enjoy the range of responses that will be forthcoming from this group.
  14. Rode the Rally bus, worked out great. Took awhile to get out of the lot but our driver knew all the back roads. We left at 12:15 and were downtown within an hour which ain't bad.
  15. I have two in the Van Miller Club, Section 235, row 15 (under overhang) seats 1 and 2 (aisle) if you're still looking.
  16. I have 2 club seats in the Van Miller section, 235, row 15 seats 1 and 2 (on the aisle). They're under the overhang which is heated, and second row from top so easy in/out. Parking pass to Lot 2 is available. Still available are: Jags Jets Lions Dolphins They're listed on StubHub and Ticketmaster so subject to prior sales. PM me for more info or w/questions.
  17. Oh good. Wonder Boy is in. Sure wish we had a more experienced backup. And an offensive line. And receivers who could separate and catch. I feel sorry for the defense. They must be tired.
  18. Every time we get a promising rookie, we ruin him by throwing him in before he's ready.
  19. The words "Trump" and "leadership" do not belong in the same sentence unless connected by the works "lack of".
  20. Best sign seen: "No the gun doesn't make your dick look bigger. It just makes you look like a bigger dick."
  21. "bashing trump" = reporting what's going on. And who in their right mind sits and watches CNN for hours and hours? It cycles through reports so people can tune in and catch what's going on. Not sit there for hours watching the same stuff repeat. Some people need lives.
  22. I'm trying to figure out just how the Clintons benefit from Trump being in the White House? Beyond the tax scam which enriches the already-rich. But seeing how Trump Inc is using the office to rake it in (with impunity thanks to gutless Republicans who care more for party than country), if that was HRC's intent, winning might have been to her advantage. And I am not an HRC fan by any stretch of the imagination. Much as I deplored GWBush, I'd take him in a second over this nest of vipers.
  23. So a business is to be penalized for making a business decision? Nothing like GOP hypocrisy and it's hysterical to watch people scrambling to justify it. "Get the government out" of private sector and people's lives doesn't apply for guns, gynecology, gays or religion. LOL. Even with the low standards by which red states are measured, this was ridiculous. No-one ever used that discount - 13 to 16 people, depending on which account you read. Statistically in the millions of people who fly Delta per year - nothing. And Delta's response was priceless. Principles? GOP don't need no stinking principles. Note: I'm referring to GOP. Not traditional conservatives. Any conservative with a brain and principles has got to realize your party's been hijacked by extremists.
  24. Insistence on releasing this memo makes perfect sense. Because when Bill Clinton's BJ and Hillary Clinton's emails were being investigated, throwing mud at the accusers was so effective that the investigations were discontinued and everything went back to normal. All forgotten, nothing to see here, move on. Morons. Especially when you read the damned thing. Yawn. I'm starting to thing all the Democrats trying to prevent the release were using reverse psychology in order to make the GOP look even more desperate and ridiculous than they do now. I'm stymied to think that these people are really planning to fall on their swords for a narcissistic, psychopathic huckster who doesn't have a clue as to how government works and, obviously, really doesn't give a damn. But, whatever.
  25. Seahawks fired their guy. They blamed him for everything ranging from the seasonal rainfall to the Amtrak derailment (Seattle fans are not very knowledgeable about football). BUT the guy was smart enough to look at Russell Willson, realize the talents he had, and build an offense around him that worked. Injuries and dumb personnel moves left him w/o much of an O-line but I get sick of teams who bring in guys who have their own agendas and then expect the players to perform when they may not be a good fit for the scheme. That just lends to endless rebuilding. I'm tired of rebuilding.
