BOB WOODWARD: Woodward: Reporters ‘binge drinking the anti-Trump Kool-Aid,’

Veteran journalist Bob Woodward called on the national media Friday to keep focused on reporting straight news, after many reporters have revealed a bias against President Trump.

Friday on MSNBC, Woodward said he knows of too many reporters who have strayed from objectivity and shown an excessive hostility toward the White House.

“Stick to the reporting,” he said. “Stick to the reporting. … One of the realities we have here is we have a good, old newspaper war going, the New York Times and the Washington Post and some very powerful stories. At the same time, I think it’s time to dial back a little bit about because there are people around … who are kind of binge drinking the anti-Trump Kool-Aid. And that is not going to work in journalism. Let the politicians have that binge drinking.”

Yeah, actual facts and sourcing are pretty thin on the ground.

What the hell does he know ?

I say this calls for another, patented Gator/Pasta/Baskin "Waaah the GOP is just crying post"...........

No.............................no bias

We just can't report any facts that might hurt the Anti-Trump narrative ......

CNN Host To Bob Schieffer: People Will Say You’re ‘Normalizing’ Trump by Praising Saudi Speech

Schieffer wasn’t “normalizing.” He was doing what reporters are supposed to do: report.

Bob Schieffer is an old-school newsman. There’s no doubt that the former Face the Nation host leans left, but he is still capable of reporting, you know, the news. That is too much for denizens of the modern MSM to tolerate.

On today’s Reliable Sources on CNN, Schieffer reported the glaringly obvious truth: that President Trump gave a good speech in Saudi Arabia today. Guest host John Berman had to push back: “you know, Bob, though, that there will be people who look at that last comment you made and say you’re normalizing the president.

Schieffer gave the perfect response: he wasn’t trying to normalize Trump, he was trying to do what reporters [are supposed to] do: report.

That video's funny, because

1) the backgrounds. Berman's got the south facade of the White House behind him, so he looks like he's reporting from the South Lawn. Schieffer's apparently seated somewhere above and to the right of the north facade of the White House, only possible if he's in a cherry picker or something. If either of those two shots weren't total bull ****, you would be able to see Schieffer above the White House behind Berman.

2) The blank look, followed by the empty nod of "I don't understand, but my director says I better pretend I do" from Berman when Schieffer says "I'm trying to do what reporters do...report."

Not on this planet. Just watched about an hour of AC coverage of the bombing. At first they probably had no info or on scene coverage.

Don't let the facts get in the way of your narrative though.

And having no info about an attack has never stopped them from airing wall-to-wall coverage before.

More "Trending Videos" from MSN homepage. This one was titled "Man in Trump Cap gets escorted off United flight". If you watch the video it is very apparent that the hat had nothing to do with the story. I'm seeing that most headlines regarding a Trump story sensationalize to an extent not seen in the past. Just look at my post #492 of this thread. The headline says that Ted Cruz stated that "Donald Trump planted story". This was in the "Trending Videos" section too. This was a story from the winter of 2016. !@#$ the MSM.

In the aftermath of a terrorist attack or an active shooter, responsible journalists pass around a guide for how to monitor breaking news. Here it is:

Screen-Shot-2017-05-15-at-9.59.49-PM.png

Perhaps we need a similar guide for how to handle breaking news that comes from the Washington Post. It turns out we can keep many of the tips:

  • In the immediate aftermath, news outlets will get it wrong.

  • Don’t trust anonymous sources. If democracy dies in darkness, anonymity is not exactly transparent or accountable. Unless someone is willing to to put his or her name with a leak, be on guard. Pay attention to how well the reporters characterize the motivations of the anonymous leaker. All leakers have motivation. Does the paper seem to have a grasp on how the motivation affects the veracity of the leak?

  • If someone is leaking national security information in order to support the claim of a national security violation, be on guard.

  • If someone is claiming a serious national security crisis but not willing to go public with the claim and resign in protest of same, be on guard.

  • Compare sources willing to put their name and reputation on the line.

  • Big anti-Trump news brings out the fakers.

  • Pay attention to the language that the media uses. Is a story about something unimportant being written in such a way as to make it seem more important?

  • Beware confirmation bias. Everyone has the tendency to interpret new evidence as confirmation of one’s existing beliefs or theories. Be on guard that you don’t accept critical or exonerating evidence to match your political preferences.

  • Pay attention to how quickly and fully editors and reporters correct stories based on false information from anonymous sources. If they don’t correct at all, it’s an indication of a lack of respect.
Mollie Ziegler Hemingway

1. I'd like to shoot a rubber band at Mollie Hemingway, on a plane or in a restaurant, to see what she'd do. I have no idea what she'd do, but I'm certain it would be funny.

2. As I've said for years, the trade-off of removing liberals from gate-keeping our news is: now we all have to be our own gatekeepers. Yeah, it sucks when you get rolled by a fake story/bad news/overreact on twitter, or here. However, consider the fact that Ted Turner used to go on set between commercials and demand CNN anchors read his little notes. The same behavior was rampant for years at the 3 TV stations. Thus, we've all spent most of our lives getting rolled...anyway.

The difference today is: you are responsible for what you know. You can't blame anybody for your ignorance, and, if the sum of what you post is merely an RSS of Media Matters/DNC talking points, with no thought value added by you? The Internet will not forgive, will not forget, and you can expect us to crush you.

The White House should be more concerned about their portrayal of the Trump presidency.

I just assume he is going about his business, I see he's over in the Middle East and visiting the Pope.

I don't obsess about a politician 24/7 and I don't trust a word the MSM says about basically anything every again.
