Tiberius
Trump is no friend of democracy, Quote Unfortunately, President Trump on Monday sided with the dictatorship. Asked to react to Sunday’s events, the president explicitly endorsed the Xi regime’s behavior. “I think President Xi has reacted very responsibly,” he told reporters. “He’s allowed [the protests] to go on for a long time.” This after innocent people were beaten nearly to death on the streets. SlimShady'sSpaceForce
where to put this??? https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-pay-15-minimum-per-170029562.html By Humeyra Pamuk WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. government will pay a minimum of $15 per acre to farmers hurt by President Donald Trump's trade war with China under an aid package to be unveiled before the end of the week, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said on Tuesday. "We'll have information for you before the week ends," Perdue told reporters when asked about the aid, which is planned to total about $16 billion. U.S. farmers, a key Trump constituency, have been among the hardest hit in the trade war between the world's two largest economies. Soybeans are the most valuable U.S. farm export, and shipments to China dropped to a 16-year low in 2018. A new aid program would be the second round of assistance for farmers, after the Department of Agriculture's $12 billion plan last year to compensate for lower prices for farm goods and lost sales stemming from trade disputes with China and other nations. Is that how it was supposed to work out? Edited July 24, 2019 by ShadyBillsFan

Is that how it was supposed to work out? It hasn't played out yet. Are you suggesting that we let China continue to walk all over us and steal our intellectual property? This reminds me of the old argument about opening up new oil fields. "It would take too long to bring that oil to market"!

If I remember correctly we tried to convince the Russkies to stick to the treaty. When they did not we informed them we were canceling it and gave them notice. There was plenty of time for them to convince us that they would stick to it and change our minds. Worthless, one-sided treaties are worse than having none at all.

I believe there were negotiations during Helsinki (? might have been one of the G-20 meetings, I forget now and am on the move so I can't grab it) -- and by negotiations I mean the US team telling the Russians that they have not been complying with the treaty for decades, and the Russians denying this was true. Of course, there was no way for Trump to negotiate with Russia or Putin the past three years without the media and Congress spinning it as "Trump is colluding with Putin!" -- but details. I don't think we wanted to stick to a treaty that limited us from developing mid range missiles when we saw other countries not limited (because they weren't part of the treaty) and developing with impunity. Let alone Russia's breaches, nothing stopped China or Iran or NKorea or any other country from building up their arms.
