"I've already got a couple people telling me, 'OK, I've got a hit out on him.' It's going to be rough for him this year. And he brought it on himself. On GoodellI get that he makes the owners money, but literally anyone could do that. A dog could. He's a dog in a suit. ... Horrible. He's straight horrible."On the NFLPA "[The NFL] is a dictatorship, and [NFLPA director] DeMaurice [smith] is in cahoots with those guys." We, or rather Sammy, will see him Friday. QB Bills
Nothing wrong with what he said. And I'm a big proponent of the word "cahoots" so consider me Josh Norman's newest fan. Edited August 24, 2016 by QB Bills
Captain_Quint
Nothing wrong with what he said. And I'm a big fan of the word "cahoots" so consider me Josh Norman's newest fan. This is right. Cahoots is a word that should be used more often. Everyone is in cahoots with someone, and its time we turn the lights on. In regards to Norman, he'll come back down to earth. He was in the perfect system for his playing style, but will now be thrown into the Washington career buzzsaw. Alot will be asked of him right away, so it should be fun to watch. He'll never stop talking trash though.

ALF
The Josh Norman blowback begins, but he says he can take it “Josh Norman calls himself The Best and Roger Goodell a ‘Dog in a Suit.” (That was 106.7 The Fan.) “Josh Norman thinks NFL refs are controlled by the mob, the league is too soft and plenty of other stupid [bS].” (That was SB Nation.) https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2016/08/23/redskins-josh-norman-comes-to-grips-with-his-face-of-the-franchise-level-fame/?tid=a_inl

C.Biscuit97
What were the TV contracts worth before Goodell became commissioner? You have to be the biggest sucker in the world if you think Goodell is close to the reason any of that happen. Football gets more popular every single year. College and high school football are big business now. I'm sure in your wrapped mind, you think Goodell is responsible for that too? The guy is completely clueless and he is only there because the owners like that idiot to shield them from all the bullets. Goodell has had more scandals: Ray Rice (he couldn't find a tape at a casino! But tmz could), the cte lawsuits, his insane suspensions, deflategate, etc. than any other major commissioner in my lifetime. Dude is completely worthless and it figures you would defend him. Arguing to argue again or you actually like Goodell ? He actually probably likes Goodell because it is so weird and no one else does.
Mr. WEO
Arguing to argue again or you actually like Goodell ? I don't care about Goodell--in fact I never understood why anyone here would even give two craps who the Commissioner of football is. Who cares? Makes no sense--has no impact on me or my enjoyment of football. The fact is that he has been an outstanding commissioner for the owners he has served. He has been in charge of the business as it has grown to dwarf all other sports and what the NFL itself was under the completely forgettable Tagliabu. So, the answer to your question is "neither". You have to be the biggest sucker in the world if you think Goodell is close to the reason any of that happen. Football gets more popular every single year. You somehow fail to notice that all of those "scandals" (all of which were actually about cheating/criminal/just plain dumb behavior of the players themselves--you missed that too) are what keeps the NFL in the top of the front page year round. That is what feeds the ever growing hunger of this country for all things NFL--especially in the off season. In their respective off-seasons, no one even thinks about the NBA or MLB both sports with a billion games, most of which are meaningless. The NHL? It has completely fallen off of the face of the Earth even during its championship series. Does anyone talk about the nobodies who are those sports commissioners? Of course not. Stating facts is not the same as "defending" (so many here struggle with this concept however). The fact is that on his watch, all of this drama has certainly affected the increasingly in your face product the NFL owners are happy to push. You know who would sit you down and defend Goodell to you? Kim and Terry Pegula, and 31 other owners. Are they weird as well? it's all a show, haven't you figured this out yet? Your supposed to "hate" Goodell, he's this villain in this drama. You are just lapping it all up, just as you are supposed to.

Mr. WEO
Yeah, the NFL was really struggling before Goodell. And having a rb get suspended for two games & then have a video come out where he is seen knocking her out is great for business. What a genius Goodell is! 2 games was the penalty for domestic violence at that time. Also (MMQB): "During a league meeting in 2010, Goodell shrewdly presented the famous $25 billion figure, his goal for league revenues by 2027, whetting owners’ appetites. Since then, revenues are up more than 50 percent, with the league expected to rake in more than $13 billion in 2016, according to a projection by SportsBusiness Journal. That’s past halfway to his goal. Football was already America’s game when Goodell took over for Tagliabue, but now it’s America’s religion. Says Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, “Goodell has absolutely been the right person for this stage of the NFL’s growth.” Adds the Cowboys’ Jerry Jones: “Triple A-plus great.” Edited August 25, 2016 by Mr. WEO

I'm genuinely interested in what makes him poor at being commissioner, but it's hard to get much in the way of exact answers. This is a good reason, but hardly seems a footnote in the long term. Is discipline the only consideration in determining his worth as commissioner?
