Restaurant Union Member: Tipping is a Horrific Legacy from the Days of Slavery.

ALSO, WHEN COMPENSATION IS BASED ON TIPS ITS HARD TO GET PEOPLE TO JOIN A UNION :D

That doesnt make sense. Other people are getting raises. Other people are getting raises but people who are working hard, young people, older people, people with disabilities, this bill cuts across all of America, she said. Now is the time to raise the wage.

So when the only way you get a raise is when the Feds force your employer to give you one you really suck at your job.

PRINCETON TO “RE-EDUCATE” ITS MALE STUDENTS

Princeton University is looking to hire an “Interpersonal Violence Clinician and Men’s Engagement Manager.” In addition to providing clinical support for the men at Princeton, “[t]he Manager will develop and implement men’s programming initiatives geared toward enhancing awareness and challenging gender stereotypes…”

If you want to apply for the job, you had better be a leftist. Two of the “essential qualifications” are: (1) a “Masters or doctorate in social work, psychology, women’s and gender studies, public health, or related graduate degree,” and (2) “ab[ility] to balance strong commitment to social justice with a capacity to navigate complex organizational systems.”

As Karin Agness Lips, writing for Forbes, observes:

Women’s studies departments emerged out of the women’s movement of the 1960s and 1970s and have established themselves as one of the most dependable tools of the Left on campus. And the term “social justice” has been taken over by the Left to mean supporting liberal causes and ideas. In other words, the job description itself signals an unmistakable political agenda.

Note, too, that the second qualification suggests a tension between commitment to social justice and ability to function in the real world, a suggestion worthy of its own blog post.

It is important for universities to foster an environment of mutual respect between the sexes. But Princeton’s new position clearly signals the University’s intention to go much further. Indeed, one of the responsibilities of the position will be to:

Lead[] and expand[] a violence prevention initiative, Men’s Allied Voices for a Respectful and Inclusive Community (MAVRIC), promoting an environment for healthy male social development
by challenging belief systems
and
social constructs
that contribute to violence and offering alternative options.

(Emphasis added)

This sounds like old-fashioned “re-education.” As Lips says, it “reeks of a larger concerted effort to reject any form of masculinity and label men as inherently toxic.”

Can't have men that disagree with the over-empowerment of women. No sir.

SOCIAL JUSTICE ‘WAR AND PEACE:’ How dare a struggling Broadway musical ask the beloved Mandy Patinkin to step in for a few weeks?

Predictably, a Twitter mob formed, outraged that Patinkin, who is of Eastern European Jewish descent, would be temporarily replacing an African-American actor.

Never mind that the role had been
originated
by the whiter-than-Vermont Josh Groban; and never mind that the show proudly proclaimed that it employed colorblind casting.

And never mind, by the way, that two of Patinkin’s most beloved roles had him playing decidedly non-Hasidic characters. (Sure it’s one thing for him to play the narrator Che in
Evita
, but if you think somebody named Mandy Patinkin could play a character called Inigo Montoya in 2017 …

then, again, you don’t know much about the year 2017.)

Equally predictable was the cave-in.

Asians and East Indians aren't minorities.

Canada smugly calls itself diverse by taking in the engineers and scientists and doctors and other great minds and $$$ from Hong Kong and India.

Yup when I was 14. I realized very early on I couldn't and wouldn't live off of minimum wage. Whoops....wrong thread.

It's probably not a good thing to want to live off minimum wage.

That's a pathological lifestyle choice that won't work. But if that's honestly all you can do in life, then go for it... lots of luck with it...

There are about 25 pathological lifestyle choices that I see people making all the time, and they never want to call it a pathological lifestyle choice.

Like owning pets, or supporting Trump, or understanding basic economics...
