If Cassel plays decently, is that it for Whaley?

As much as the Bills have been painful during the year, Whaley's been vindicated on all of his controversial moves. Cassell has been terrible and certainly not better than EJ. Fred Jackson has done nothing in Seattle, even w/ Lynch hurt and missing games. He picked two starters in this years' draft in Darby and Miller with his first 2 picks plus Karlos Williams. They had a fair QB competition and they indisputably selected the right guy to start. He resigned Jerry Hughes and Marcel Dareus, they're both playing very well despite the defense's overall troubles. McCoy has been very good when not playing hobbled w/ injury... and Kiko Alonso is out again

I'm not sure what more we could want on the GM front. The injuries have been simply decimating. Between starting QB, #1 receiver and Pro-Bowl running back... plus Kyle Williams, Aaron Williams. plus in the last game, right side of OL... man, there's not many teams that can take hits like that. I don't think any of the undefeated teams could take that much either

But he hasn't found the next Tom Brady on the waiver wire so you know, he pretty much sucks.

Oh my! How accurate he is! What great decisions he makes! Look how quickly he makes his reads through all his receivers and delivers it to them with a great combination of zip, soft touch, and accuracy! His veteran leadership behind the best OLine in The League allowed him to heave a mighty (albeit desperation) pass into quadruple coverage for no less than 20+ yards!

Sure, you may say it was intercepted, but I saw a fearless warrior snarling in the face of adversity, putting not only his team, but the entire city of Dallas on his back - including Jerry Jones.

Trade Matt Cassel- and for what?

Whaley should clean out his desk today and Pegs should have Security escort him out of the building. Good riddance!

Let's see. No 1st round pick this year, and he got three solid starters. Answers is no. Again, if your trying to fire a GM over trading Cassel, you are REALLY REALLY proving your bias against said GM. Cassel is awful. Has no ceiling. EJ at least has/had the potential to be great. He and Cassel are the same at this point.

I hope you realise how stupid this thread is...

Whaley has:

  • Got us the #3 ranked guard in the NFL from FA
  • Got us a possible franchise QB
  • got us an elite RB (albeit an injured one)
  • Drafted a top 3 corner without a first round pick
  • Drafted a serviceable guard
  • Drafted a very promising RB in the 5th round
All within the last year. I'm not even gonna mention the smart moves he made last year (ok I am, but briefly: Bringing in Orton, Signing Corey Graham, Drafting Henderson in the 7th, Drafting Preston Brown in the 3rd, the list goes on). None of these things are remotely controversial because I didnt want to list the moves that I thought were smart but other might disagree. In essence this list is only the moves that everyone with more than 3 neurons would think are good. So think before you create threads like this.
I'm actually starting to come around to this view, along with the realization that this might be a very poorly coached team. But the Watkins trade/pick is still sticking in my craw and it hurts more and more every time ODB lights it up while Sammy is either injured or getting three targets per game. It was a terrible trade and a lot of us said so at the time. unfortunately, it was Whaley's signature move. I know I need to let it go, but I just can't.

Whaley is the best thing to happen to this organisation in heaven knows how long. If we ditch him to take the heat off and prop up Rex I will honestly give up. Not give up caring.... oh that I could switch that off... but I will give up thinking about ways to win because clearly this franchise would be determined to undermine itself at every turn.
